Production Supervisor, Consumables
Role Overview
The Production Supervisor will oversee a team of 4 production workers, ensuring that manufacturing operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role is responsible for managing daily production activities, ensuring that the team meets production targets, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a safe and productive work environment. Additionally, the supervisor will be responsible for assessing production capacity, anticipating production schedules, and adjusting resources as needed to meet demand.
This is an onsite role based at our Botley site.
Primary responsibilities for this role include:
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce health and safety policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions and ensure all team members comply with safety regulations.
- Report and investigate any accidents or incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to ensure a safe working environment.
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to minimize defects and waste.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes.
- Production Planning and Coordination
- Ensure production schedules are met by coordinating resources and managing workflow.
- Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance with company standards.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Quality Control) to resolve production issues.
- Optimize the use of materials, equipment, and labor to maximize productivity.
- Production Capacity Management
- Assess production capacity and ensure that resources are adequately allocated to meet production demands.
- Anticipate production needs based on forecasts and adjust schedules and resources accordingly.
- Plan and implement strategies to manage peak production periods and minimize bottlenecks.
- Work closely with the Consumables Director to review capacity utilization and make recommendations for improvements.
- Team Management:
- Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of 4 production workers.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members according to production schedules.
- Monitor team performance and provide coaching, training, and development opportunities.
- Address any employee issues, concerns, or conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
- Foster a positive work environment and culture of continuous improvement.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance production efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate production records, including daily output, material usage, and employee attendance.
- Prepare and submit reports on production activities, including any issues or delays.
- Assist in budget preparation and cost control activities.
- Production Schedule Anticipation:
- Anticipate and proactively manage any potential disruptions to the production schedule
- Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure the availability of materials and components.
- Adjust staffing levels and production shifts to accommodate changes in production demand.
- Ability to analyze production data and make informed decisions about capacity and scheduling.
- Proactively communicate with stakeholders regarding potential delays or changes to the production schedule.
We are ideally looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in production management software, ERP systems, and data analysis tool and excel

- We anticipate a salary between £33,000 and £43,000 for this role, depending on the candidate’s experience.
