Senior Product Manager (Inbox)
Join Proton and build a better internet where privacy is the default
Proton was founded in 2014 by scientists from CERN on a simple truth: privacy is a fundamental human right. Since then, we’ve built the world’s largest encrypted email service (Proton Mail) and expanded into Proton VPN, Proton Drive, Proton Pass, and Proton Calendar—tools used by millions globally to protect their freedom, fight censorship, and keep their data safe. In some situations, Proton has literally helped save lives!
We are profitable, independent (no VC control), and selectively hire from the top ~1% of applicants. Our 500+ team members across 50+ countries come from leading organizations and elite academic backgrounds. We move fast, keep hierarchy light, and prioritize impact over optics. If you want to do meaningful work with exceptionally high-caliber people, this is it. Join us and do work you can truly be proud of. Check our open-source projects here!

What you will do:
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the next stage in the evolution of some of our products (Proton Mail, Calendar). Product at Proton sits at the intersection of Engineering, Growth, Data and Design. Your responsibility will be to grow user engagement and retention by creating remarkable user experiences for our community. You are versatile in product-led growth, at the heart of our freemium model.
- Work with the senior leadership team to define a strategic vision and roadmap
- Drive product innovation, develop novel, game-changing product features that expand our value proposition to new user segments and increase our defensibility.
- Define and own what success looks like in terms of metrics such as active usage, user engagement, retention, and revenue.
- Facilitate hand-in-hand collaboration between product, engineering, growth and marketing to align on the vision and the execution.
- Lead the teams through execution from conception to delivery. Troubleshoot and solve problems involving multiple teams inside and outside of product and maintain high development velocity.
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and gather customer feedback to inform product decisions.
- Anticipate growth ceilings and define scaling strategies to prevent them, that include managing projects beyond pure-product work, and include foundational technology, tools, and processes, such as a customer engagement platform.
What we are looking for:
We need you to have:
- 6-10 years of experience in product management in B2C or B2B SaaS, preferably in online privacy and/or productivity contexts.
- Proven track-record in successful product and major feature launches in fast-paced environments.
- Strategic leader with an analytical and data-driven mindset, with a track record for delivering products and features on time and with commercial success.
- Strong empathy for the customer, user-centric mindset, and an unwillingness to lower standards.
- A strong innate sense for good UX, with a love for design.
- Experience building and managing high-performing teams.
- A work ethic of going above and beyond to make things happen. Ability to be hands-on and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to dig into the technical details with engineers and make the right trade-offs.
Even if you don’t meet all the requirements listed above, but feel you could still be a great fit, please still apply.
