Technical Writer

Role Overview

At Protelion Research and Development Center, a leading cybersecurity company specializing in data protection products and solutions, we are looking for a skilled Technical Writer to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating, improving, and maintaining technical documentation that supports our software products and services. You’ll work closely with developers, analysts, QA engineers, and product managers to ensure that all documentation is clear, accurate, and aligned with both technical requirements and business goals. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys translating complex technical information into user-friendly content and thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Responsibilities

1. Participation in company projects related to software and hardware product development.
2. Communicating with developers, analysts, experts, testers, and project managers to ensure documentation meets business requirements and technical specifications.
3. Writing and revising technical documentation (user’s and administrator’s guides, help manuals) in adherence to company brand standards.
4. Writing and maintaining company product usage guidelines and technical references.
5. Ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
6. Translating documentation into other languages when required.
7. Identifying and correcting defects in documentation, processing issues, bugs, and feedback related to documentation.
8. Participating in the creation of texts for marketing materials, including descriptions of technical information for company products.
9. Reviewing documentation created by other technical writers to ensure consistency and quality.
10. Participating in the improvement and optimization of documentation processes and standards within the company.
11. Participation in the creation of texts for product interfaces and in-product help systems.
12. Taking part in presentations and training sessions on software development and documentation processes.

Requirements

1. Proven experience as a Technical Writer in an IT, software development, or cybersecurity environment.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Russian; ability to write clearly and concisely for different audiences.
3. Ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into user-friendly documentation.
4. Experience working with developers, QA engineers, and product managers to collect and verify information.
5. Familiarity with documentation tools and platforms like AuthorIT and Translation memory would be plus.
6. Strong attention to details, organization, and ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
7. Basic understanding of software development processes and terminology.
8. Degree in Technical Communication, Linguistics, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
