The Role

This is a 12 month fixed-term contract (FTC) with potential to flip to a full-time employment offer subject to role performance and business need.

As our Product Lead for Data Collection at Prolific, you will lead strategy and execution for a collection of cross-functional product teams looking after our data collectors, their jobs, and their success on Prolific.

You’ll oversee our data collection tools and orchestration products (both UIs and APIs) and will be charged with building new products in our product family. You'll report to our VP of Product and work closely with a world-class team of product-minded software engineers, AI engineers and scientists, designers, data scientists, user researchers, and other product people across our Groups. 

In addition to owning overall strategic and roadmap accountability for your group, you will be hands-on as the product manager for at least one of your teams. You'll also have people management responsibilities for product managers in your Group. Strong computational thinking, conceptual clarity, and the ability to make tricky tradeoffs in complex prioritisation landscapes are key.

What you'll be doing

• You’ll bring your rich and varied product career to bear to solve tricky user problems and create new opportunities for our users who do data collection on Prolific (that’s both external and internal users!) to fall in love with the experience of using Prolific.
• You’ll build on our great roots to help elevate Prolific’s Product Management team into a world-leading one, known for their approach to making bets and building products that customers love and which drive commercial value for our business.
• You’ll spend a lot of your time coaching behaviours and skills, and modeling game-changing approaches by directly doing. 
• You will be a swift unblocker and simplifier of complexity: colleagues will bring you problems, and emerge optimistic, and with clarity.
• You’ll move through the world in close collaboration with your engineering, design, and data counterparts, and you’ll all share user research, delivery, and analysis responsibilities.

What you’ll bring

• Deep passion for (and ideally experience in) ethical and/or safe AI, AI training / finetuning, benchmarking and evaluation methods, human feedback for AI systems, and a general closeness to how the AI landscape is evolving.
• Competence or expertise in most or all of:
• The industry’s prevailing product tools and frameworks, 
• Hands-on experience in high-velocity continuous product development cultures, 
• Agile and lean principles, thin or vertical slicing,
• Leveraging AI tools as a product leader

• Strong data literacy and true data-informed decision-making and the ability to coach this
• The ability to make strong bets in data-poor environments
• People management or extensive coaching experience, with a track record of success in developing world-class technologists
• A love for storytelling and holding a room’s attention!

• Scale-up or startup experience. 
• AI training or AI development experience.
• A track record of giving back to your Product community.
• A track record of excelling across all your pursuits, beyond your chosen career.
