What you’ll be doing:
As a Compliance Leader (Advisory & Oversight), you will play a central role in providing advisory support and independent oversight across the business, working in close partnership with the Group Head of Compliance and acting as a key bridge between the Compliance team and the wider business.
This is a broad, high-impact role requiring both technical expertise and strong advisory capability. You will be responsible for providing regulatory advice, supporting the business in embedding compliance into day-to-day operations, and ensuring that risks identified through monitoring and oversight are effectively resolved.
You will line manage 1 direct reports, providing coaching and support to develop their advisory and technical capability, while maintaining a strong personal focus on delivering high-quality compliance advice and oversight.
This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to actively shape the evolution of the second-line compliance function.
The primary responsibilities of this role include (but not limited to):
Regulatory Advice & Business Partnering
- Provide pragmatic, proportionate compliance advice to senior stakeholders
- Embed a “compliant by design” approach across products, pricing, and customer journeys
- Support decision-making by balancing regulatory requirements with commercial objectives
- Act as a trusted advisor across key business areas
- Partner with compliance leadership to ensure you, and your team, remain abreast of ongoing regulatory developments.
- Support the business in preparing for and responding to regulatory engagement and audits.
Advisory Support for Regulatory Change
- Provide advisory input and independent oversight on key regulatory initiatives, including:
- Vulnerable customer frameworks
- Consumer Duty embedding and outcomes monitoring
- Pricing / fair value enhancements
- Provide oversight and challenge to ensure regulatory change is effectively embedded and sustained, not just implemented
Oversight & Issue Resolution
Work closely with our third-party providers to ensure issues identified are:
- Understood
- Prioritised
- Effectively remediated
- Provide challenge to the business where progress is insufficient
- Ensure clear accountability for actions and outcomes
- Line manage and support the development of 1 direct report within the Compliance team
Regulatory Engagement & Governance
- Support regulatory interactions, audits and reviews
- Contribute to Governance forums and senior reporting
- Support horizon scanning and carry out regulatory impact assessments where required
Who are you:
You are an experienced compliance professional with strong generalist knowledge and the ability to operate at both a strategic and hands on level.
You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment and enjoy partnering with the business to deliver practical solutions. You bring confidence, pragmatism and leadership – alongside a clear focus to deliver good customer outcomes.

- Strong experience within a compliance role in general insurance
- Broad understanding of FCA regulation and conduct risk
- Experience delivering regulatory change and business transformation
- Ability to engage, influence, and challenge senior stakeholders
- Strong commercial awareness and pragmatic mindset
- Experience developing or managing people
- Ability to operate with autonomy and support senior leadership
- Professional qualification (ICA / CISI or equivalent)
Desirable
- Experience with Consumer Duty implementation
- AI implementation and uses
