We’re at the start of an exciting transformation. With bold investment in pricing, data, and technology, we’re building a new Retail Price Optimisation team to redefine how we make pricing decisions. By combining advanced analytics, machine learning, rich data, and modern cloud infrastructure, we aim to unlock faster, smarter, and fairer pricing — creating real impact for both our customers and the business. 

 
About the Price Optimisation team:

Your day to day: 

 

• Behavioural and Profitability Models: 
  Oversee the development and refinement of customer lifetime value (CLTV) and price sensitivity models, ensuring insights directly support strategic pricing decisions and sustainable business growth. 

• Price Optimisation: 
  Lead the design and delivery of pricing optimisation initiatives, including Efficient Frontier modelling and customer outcome simulations, to guide the business toward an optimal balance of volume, margin, and profitability. 

• Innovation and Advanced Analytics: 
  Drive innovation by embedding advanced analytics, machine learning techniques, and modern pricing tools into core business processes, shaping a forward-looking pricing strategy. 

• ML Engineering Integration: 
  Collaborate with ML Engineering to enhance model sophistication, ensuring seamless integration with Radar API and establishing robust MLOps pipelines for scalable deployment. 

• Leadership & Mentoring: 
  Provide direction, coaching, and mentorship to analysts and data scientists, fostering technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Essential 

• MSc, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field 

• Background in UK General Insurance (Motor and/or Home), with a strong grasp of pricing principles and regulatory frameworks 

• Exposure to pricing/modelling platforms such as Emblem, Radar, or Earnix 

• Strong foundation in statistical methods and ML algorithms, with proven ability to apply them to business-critical challenges 

• High proficiency in SQL and Python, with strong knowledge of ML libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, XGBoost, SciPy, PyTorch) 

• Demonstrated experience in leading projects that take advanced models from prototype to production, delivering measurable impact 

• Strategic leader with a focus on innovation, continuous improvement, and challenging the status quo to achieve meaningful business outcomes 

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical insights into actionable recommendations for senior leadership 

 

Nice-to-have 

• Familiarity with MLOps and development best practices: version control (e.g. Git), CI/CD pipelines, testing, and Agile ways of working 

• Hands-on experience with optimisation techniques (e.g. gradient descent, Bayesian methods, Lagrangian methods) in pricing or related domains 

• Background in UK General Insurance (Motor and/or Home), with a strong grasp of pricing principles and regulatory frameworks 

• Exposure to pricing/modelling platforms such as Emblem, Radar, or Earnix 

• Proficiency with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
