Your Day to Day
As the Data Product Manager for the Migration and Decommission squad of the Data & Analytics Platform tribe at Policy Expert, you will:
- Lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of complex data migration initiatives, with a core focus on migrating enterprise data infrastructure and assets from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Drive the decommissioning of legacy data platforms and systems, ensuring seamless transition, minimal disruption, and full compliance across the business.
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for data migration and decommissioning, aligning stakeholders, managing dependencies, and ensuring delivery is on time, within scope, and aligned to business priorities.
- Define and implement structured methodologies for cloud migration and system retirement, ensuring initiatives are measurable, prioritised, and linked to cost reduction, operational efficiency, and long-term platform scalability.
- Collaborate closely with cloud engineering, data engineering, security, compliance, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to plan and execute migration waves from AWS to GCP, while maintaining business continuity and performance.
- Champion and deliver clear governance and auditability of migration and decommissioning activities, ensuring alignment with data retention, privacy, security, and regulatory standards across all insurance domains (e.g. pricing, underwriting, claims, policy admin, and customer experience).
- Establish and manage KPIs to track the progress and impact of migration and decommissioning efforts, effectively communicating milestones, risks, and ROI to executive stakeholders.
- Maintain a detailed inventory and roadmap of systems and data assets to be migrated or decommissioned, ensuring visibility, traceability, and prioritisation of high-risk or high-impact assets.
- Collaborate with finance and operations to realise cost savings through infrastructure rationalisation, system deprecation, and reduced cloud operating costs post-migration.
- Advocate for a culture of cloud-native thinking, data lifecycle ownership, and platform efficiency, empowering teams to build on scalable, modern, and compliant data infrastructure in GCP.
Who You Are
- A results-driven Product Manager with deep experience leading large-scale cloud data migrations, ideally including direct involvement in AWS-to-GCP transitions.
- Proven ability to deliver complex data infrastructure projects in regulated industries, ideally insurance or financial services, where security, compliance, and auditability are critical.
- Strategic thinker with a strong track record of managing the end-to-end product lifecycle for cloud migration and decommissioning initiatives, from discovery and planning through to execution and benefit realisation.
- Skilled in engaging cross-functional technical teams (cloud, infrastructure, security, data, compliance) and aligning them around a shared migration and decommissioning vision.
- Deep understanding of cloud platform capabilities and trade-offs (specifically GCP vs AWS), and the ability to translate infrastructure changes into clear business value and cost-efficiency.
- Experienced in implementing structured prioritisation frameworks that connect migration and decommissioning efforts to business goals, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
- An excellent communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, build alignment, and secure ongoing sponsorship for infrastructure and platform transformation.
- Passionate about operational excellence, platform simplification, and reducing technical debt to enable long-term agility and data scalability.
