Your Responsibilities
At Policy Expert, we operate a ‘Three Lines of Defence’ approach to risk management; this is a ‘Second Line’ role sitting in the ‘Risk and Resilience Team’ within the wider Compliance and Risk function. It helps us drive an integrated approach to risk and resilience management and to support the development and adherence to the Risk Management Framework in the service of the Group, successfully delivering its strategy.
As the Business Resilience Manager, you will lead on three core workstreams: the business-wide approach to operational resilience – specifically compliance with regulatory Operational Resilience as per FCA PS21/3, serious incident management and controls strengthening through a Risk Events programme, and the business continuity programme.
Working alongside the Risk Manager, you will drive action on the effectiveness of internal controls where gaps or ineffective controls are identified through the Risk Events programme – whether through post-incident lessons learned, through the risk events approach, or through Resilience or Continuity exercising, testing, or review.
What will you typically be expected to do/be accountable to deliver?
- Supporting the Group Head of Risk in the embedding and maturity of all aspects of the Operational Resilience (FCA PS21/3) programme, including: leading on the maintenance and understanding of relevant business process and resource requirements for Important Business Services (IBS) - with a focus on maturing the mapping, plan testing, vulnerability identification, training, exercising, and lessons learned; and driving adoption by the 1st Line of an appropriate dynamic customer harm assessment framework as Business-As-Usual.
- Leading on the implementation and embedding of the Risk Events programme: Ensuring correct documentation in the identification, assessment, mitigation, action tracking, controls gaps or failure identification review, challenge and reporting concerning Risk Events; working alongside the Risk Managers with a clear focus on supporting the company to act on lessons learned after risk materialisation; driving positive action and continuous improvement from all lessons learned together in a single methodology to promote correct remediation actions through controls and control effectiveness assessments, championing the development and embedding of risk culture across the organisation, and helping the business develop and enhance its risk maturity.
- Implementation and management of group-wide robust serious incident management frameworks; the role holder will lead, coordinate, and facilitate the active response to serious incidents on behalf of the business as the Business Incident Lead and ensure that post-incident processes are followed.
- Business Continuity responsibilities specifically will include management of and training to stakeholders around Business Impact Analysis (BIAs) and subsequent Business Continuity Plans (BCPs), and operationalising the Business Continuity lifecycle aligned to BCI Good Practice Guidelines as the BCM. This includes management of the relevant aspects of the BC lifecycle and framework adherence; operational BC Plans for response and seeking optimisation of processes by merging the Business Continuity and Operational Resilience programmes where appropriate.
- Ownership of the Exercise and Testing programme. Manage the design, delivery, implementation, and maturity of the programme and help to socialise through awareness, testing, training, validation, and exercising.
- Conduct all aspects of Business Continuity and Operational Resilience Due Diligence for all relevant suppliers.
