About the Home team:
We’re the Home Acquisition team, focused on helping customers find, understand, and buy the right cover for their home.
This role will lead the technical direction and frontend excellence across our team, shaping what we build and how we build it. From architecture and design principles to code quality and mentoring, you’ll play a key role in ensuring we build robust, scalable systems that are easy to evolve. You’ll help us improve the tools and ways of working we use every day, and contribute to a culture of engineering craft, pragmatism, and innovation.
You’ll work closely with engineers, designers, product managers, and engineering managers, not just to get things done, but to build the right things in the right way.
Your day to day:
- Lead frontend engineering decisions within the Home Acquisition cross-functional team to help deliver our product roadmap
- Uphold and evolve our architecture and design principles, ensuring systems are simple, scalable, and sustainable
- Identify and lead improvements to the systems, tools, and processes used by frontend engineers
- Mentor engineers (or support others in doing so), helping them grow in confidence and capability
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to shape upcoming work and unblock delivery
- Facilitate cross-team conversations to ensure technical alignment and knowledge sharing
Who are you:
You're someone who enjoys balancing delivery and long-term thinking. You bring depth in frontend engineering (we use React and TypeScript) and architectural thinking, with real world experience building and scaling high traffic transactional systems, ideally in sectors like insurance or retail, where reliability and customer experience are critical. You’ve worked through the kinds of challenges that come with evolving modern web applications in a cloud native setup. We're on AWS, favoring serverless with Lambda and Node.js, you're confident working with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub workflows. You take shared ownership seriously, including contributing to out of hours support when needed, and helping to shape and manage a sustainable rota within the team. You're collaborative, pragmatic, and motivated by helping others succeed while raising the bar for quality.
