About The Role:
This is a commercial role at the centre of all our teams at Platform Media - bridging editorial, production, talent and connecting the brands and agencies that want to reach our ever-growing audiences.
You'll shape commercial strategy across Platform Media's owned IP: building sales collateral, setting pricing, managing pipelines and crafting the proposals that win business.
This role will give you the opportunity to work directly with some of the biggest names in UK media alongside a collaborative and ambitious team that genuinely cares about the quality of what it makes.
You’ll predominantly focus on growing the commercial success of our sports slate, with the opportunity to work across entertainment too - some of the shows you’ll cover include:
- The Good, The Bad & The Football
- The Good, The Bad & The Rugby
- Fight Your Corner
- The Romesh Ranganathan Show
- Hanging Out with Ant & Dec
- Bottoms Up with Alan Carr and Lee Peart
- Olivia’s House
- Joe Marler Will See You Now
- Wanging On with Graham and Maria
- Wolf & Owl
Key Responsibilities:
Internal and partner relations
- Act as the pivotal link between editorial, production and commercial.
- Develop and grow relationships with key internal stake holders, particularly Producers and Exec Producers to understand the latest status and strategy for each Platform Media show.
- Develop and grow relationships with strategic commercial partners (e.g. Spotify) to support and identify opportunities for Platform Media shows.
- Liaise with talent agents on commercial opportunities, confirm brand approvals and manage any brand exclusions.
Sales collateral & packaging
- Work closely with Producers to create and keep up to date key sales material including; A sales deck, media plan and flyer for each of our shows.
- Based on availability and timelines, refresh and update commercial packages regularly.
- Support the sales team with insights, strategy, creative and competitive packages both proactively and with response to briefs.
Commercial show strategy
- Lead on the commercial strategy for each of our individual shows.
- Own and manage both the prospect lists and pipeline for each of the shows, liaising with the sales team to make sure the documents are fully up to date.
- Stay on top of industry trend reports and insights to constantly evolve our offering.
- Identify key partners for each of our shows based on competitor insights, key spending category brands and pre-existing brand partnerships for talent involved.
Response to Briefs
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Commercial Team in owning and crafting proposals for briefs sales team receive from media agencies across social branded content & podcast partnerships.
- Create competitive and innovative media plans to accompany our creative responses to win new business.
- Proactively use (and grow) your own network of contacts to introduce and explain the benefits of working with Platform Media.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience of driving revenue growth with commercial partners
- Understanding of content, podcasting and the media landscape
- Confident presenting to stakeholders, internal and external
- Experience developing and owning sales collateral
- Interest in industry insights and keeping up to date with relevant trends
- A passion and interest in sports preferable
