PSP Contract Specialist

Limassol, Cyprus

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Contract Specialist with expertise in reviewing agreements specific to payment services (merchant agreements, acquirer contracts, API service agreements) and working with payment service providers in order to strengthen our payments team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payment industry regulations, contractual negotiations, and risk management, ensuring the organization’s compliance and safeguarding its interests.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Merchant Agreement Review and Drafting:

  • Analyze, and negotiate merchant agreements to ensure alignment with legal and business objectives.
  • Identify potential risks and liabilities, advising on appropriate mitigations.
  • Ensure agreements comply with applicable laws and industry standards.

2. Payment Service Providers (PSPs):

  • Perform the due diligence for PSPs.
  • Collaborate with payment service providers to structure agreements that meet operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor changes in payment regulations and advise on their impact on existing agreements.

3. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:

  • Stay up-to-date on relevant financial, payment, and data protection laws (e.g., Card Scheme Rules & Regulations, GDPR).
  • Collecting and verifying necessary documentation, contracts, and agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct legal risk assessments for new payment products and services.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with legal, business, finance, and technical teams to provide legal support for payment-related initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in Law, Economics, Management or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in contract law, with a focus on payment services, financial services, or commercial agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of payment processing, merchant services, and industry regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, AML/KYC).
  • Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with merchant agreements and cross-border payment regulations.
  • Familiarity with digital payment technologies and fintech innovations.
  • Work experience in the gaming industry, preferably in payments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
