Director of Payments

Limassol, Cyprus

As Director of Payments, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payments operations and driving the payments development roadmap across all markets.

The payments team handles a significant volume of transactions annually, and you will be tasked with leading cross-brand teams, driving operational KPIs, and managing the development pipeline for payment solutions. Additionally, you will manage key commercial relationships with third-party providers.

Your role will involve close collaboration with development and operational teams, as well as key stakeholders, to ensure that business targets are effectively set, communicated, and achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, define, and execute a comprehensive payments strategy to achieve revenue and profit targets.
  • Set and monitor operational KPIs, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to the business and that performance targets are met by the teams.
  • Oversee the performance, development, and training of the payments team, fostering continuous growth and improvement.
  • Manage the roadmap and lifecycle of the organization’s payment products and associated features in collaboration with Product Managers and business stakeholders.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of competitors, customers, product usage, and delivery capabilities to ensure the timely delivery of the right products and services.
  • Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of payment channels, identifying areas for optimization and improvement.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders — including Finance, Operations, Risk and Fraud, Systems Support, Customer Helpline, Product and Marketing — and incorporate their requirements into the payments strategy and product development.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with payment partners, card schemes, and fintech companies.
  • Position the payments team as a market leader and establish it as the best in the industry.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in payments.
  • In-depth knowledge of the payments and fraud ecosystems, including international markets, regulatory frameworks (such as PSD2), and end-to-end processes like authorization, settlement, and reconciliation.
  • Proven experience working with diverse stakeholders across departments and levels.
  • Proficiency with data management tools to set and monitor performance targets, analyze customer behavior, and develop optimizations based on insights.
  • Solid hands-on technical experience. 
  • A team player with a positive attitude and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
