Role Overview

The accountant supports the Financial Controller within Group Accounting function in the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities of Permira's Alternative Investment Fund Manager (“AIFM”) located in Luxembourg, as well as its international operations, including its branches and representative office located oversees.

The role provides broad exposure to the financial operations of the AIFM across multiple jurisdictions, covering entity accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, statutory and management reporting, audit, tax and regulatory requirements. Working closely with the Controller and other members of Firm Finance network, the role is expected to develop a strong understanding of the AIFM's financial operations and control environment, progressively taking ownership of key accounting and reporting processes, and assisting in the strengthening of the control environment of the entities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting and Reporting

  • Support the Controller in the day-to-day accounting, data postings and month-end close process for the Luxembourg AIFM, its branches and representative office.
  • Prepare and maintain reconciliations (bank, intercompany, balance sheet and other control accounts), investigating and resolving discrepancies with other team members, where appropriate.
  • Support the preparation of monthly and periodic management and Group reporting for the AIFM, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Group policies, templates and deadlines.
  • Help maintain accurate coding and classification of transactions in line with the Group's chart of accounts and accounting policies.
  • Support the accounting and monitoring of transactions between the AIFM, its branches and representative office and other Permira entities, as applicable.
  • Support the Controller in maintaining appropriate financial controls and documentation across the AIFM and its international operations.

2. Audit, Statutory Reporting and Tax Compliance

  • Assist with audit requests, ensuring deliverables are completed in line with agreed timelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and support the coordination of statutory and financial audits under the guidance of the Controller.
  • Assist with tax, VAT and other regulatory or compliance-related financial filings applicable to the AIFM, working with internal teams and external advisors as required.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external counterparties, including auditors, tax advisors and other service providers, on day-to-day accounting and reporting matters, escalating more complex matters to the Controller.

3. Process improvement and cross-functional collaboration

  • Contribute to the improvement and standardisation of accounting processes, reporting templates and controls across the AIFM and its international operations.
  • Maintain clear, well-organised documentation to support audit readiness, regulatory requirements and continuity of knowledge.
  • Undertake ad hoc analysis and project support relating to the AIFM as requested by the Controller or wider Group Accounting team.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Solid understanding of core accounting principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and month-end close process.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel; comfortable working with structured data and reporting templates.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Experience in a corporate, fund, or financial services or regulated financial institution accounting environment is an advantage.
  • Exposure to multi-entity and/or multi-jurisdictional accounting environments would be beneficial.
  • Experience with statutory reporting, audit processes and tax compliance would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Clear, professional communication style, coupled with the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate across a broad network of internal teams and external advisors in different jurisdictions.
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset, with an interest in developing a strong understanding of the financial operations of the organization, while continuously improving processes and controls.
