Role Purpose
The MLRO ensures the Peruvian entity complies with all AML/CFT and broader regulatory requirements, protecting both the local business and the wider PayRetailers Group. Working closely with regional compliance leads, you will:
- Act as the designated MLRO for Peru, interfacing with UIF-Perú and the Superintendencia de Banca, Seguros y AFP (SBS).
- Monitor local transactions, investigate red flags, and escalate suspicious activity reports (SARs).
- Maintain and enhance AML/CFT policies, controls, and training, keeping pace with evolving regulation and industry best practice.
Primary Responsabilities
- Serve as primary contact for UIF-Perú and SBS on AML/CFT matters.
- Prepare and submit all mandatory reports.
- Review daily automated alerts on merchant and end-user activity; perform first-line investigations and recommend actions.
- Escalate complex cases internally or to regulators in line with Peruvian law.
- Identify any potential risks that may affect the reputation, safety, security, financial sustainability, and existence of the
- Draft, update, and localize AML/CFT policies and procedures, aligning with Group standards.
- Deliver ongoing compliance training to local teams and merchants.
- Support periodic AML/CFT risk assessments, identifying new threats.
- Provide regular compliance updates to the MLRO coordinator and Global Financial Crime Manager.
- Participate in internal and external audits, addressing findings promptly.
Knowledge and Skills
- Solid knowledge of Peruvian Legislation / Regulations.
- Experience in ML/FT prevention matters.
- Understanding of payment-industry risk typologies, with the ability to pinpoint threats and design effective mitigating controls.
- Experience with transaction-monitoring systems and SAR preparation.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic working environment.
- Strong analytical, investigative and communication skills in English and Spanish.
Prefered Qualifications and Experience
- Education: BS / BA or higher degree in Law, Business, Finance, or related field; CAMS or similar certification is a plus.
- Experience target: 2–4 years in AML/CFT or financial crime compliance, preferably in payments, fintech, or banking.
