Job Description:
As a “data engineer – tech lead” you are expected to be a hands-on person and have experience leading/coordinating a team of data engineers throughout the whole lifecycle of our data pipelines (from requirements identification to deployment). S/he will be expected to collaborate with other Data and IT functions to continuously evolve our technology stack, POCs, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Ownership of the data platform team backlog and lead the team throughout the data pipeline’s lifecycle.
- Collaborate with other DATA and IT functions to assess data tools, frameworks, and technologies and lead their adoption.
- Define technical standards and best practices in data engineering, including template, quality assurance, automated testing, monitoring, and technical documentation.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architecture.
- Identify bottlenecks or performance issues, proposing scalable and efficient solutions within existing data systems. Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and validation.
- Lead code reviews and architectural decisions, ensuring the technical quality of deliverables and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and reliability.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Lead Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
- Deep knowledge of data modelling (dimensional modelling – star and snowflake schema).
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Blob Storage.
- Expertise in Databricks for big data processing and analytics.
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
- Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Certification in Azure or Databricks.
