Product Manager - Merchant Experience

About the role 

As a Product Manager for Merchant Experience, you will be tasked with identifying, scoping, and launching new & cutting-edge solutions for our merchant clients. You will work closely with internal stakeholders across Product, Risk, Compliance, Sales, and Account Management to develop go-to-market strategies & grow the business within our PSP.

Your responsibilities 

  • Contribute to develop a strategic product roadmap to enhance and support the end-to-end merchant experience within the PayRetailers ecosystem including:
    • Merchant onboarding end to end processes including risk and compliance requirements
    • Merchant portal user flows and experience and administration capabilities
    • Value add capabilities within the merchant environment including API integration methods, analytics, and ad-hoc client requests
  • Support sales and account management functions on best practice product integration methods to prospective clients.
  • Work closely with Sales, Account Management, and the technical integration teams to drive effective use of technology to solve merchants and business needs.
  • Co-ordinate with the technical integration teams to certify merchant product integrations and go live support.
  • Measure and track the performance of merchant onboarding and integration processes, value add services, and use of the merchant portal and administrative tools to provide continuous KPI improvements and optimization.
  • Working directly with development scrum teams to execute on the roadmap and strategic vision.
  • Coordinate with IT to continually improve application function and design.
  • Manage escalations which may require additional research and knowledge.
  • Manage multiple projects and/or lead specific projects to implement solutions to problems or seize market opportunities.
  • Research and track business processes and be able to identify upstream and downstream impacts.
  • Oversee the process of resource planning and scheduling, developing project plans, monitoring progress against planned objectives, and reviewing the financial or operational impact of projects.
  • Manage, define, and prioritize the issues that are related to defects or bugs, including providing key input on the decisions to fix or defer.
  • Act as the voice of the user in product designs and gather direct feedback from both internal and external customers on the existing and future product suite.
  • Collaborate with other product teams to understand requirements and incorporate them into our planning.
  • Continuously and transparently communicate with internal stakeholders the prioritization of the product backlog and the status of development efforts via product demos, release plans, and other means.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 4 years of equivalent large-scale product management work experience.
  • 3+ years of leading a Product or function within a product, with experience in building platform products and in serving both internal and external customers/stakeholders.
  • Knowledge in e-commerce, electronic payment methods or experience in Fintech or banking environments.
  • Experience integrating merchants into a Payment Provider ecosystem, including credit and debit card processing, Alternative Payment Methods (APM’s), and Digital Wallets.
  • Experience documenting and applying process improvement methodologies and process re-engineering methodologies in fintech, banking, or similar area.
  • Knowledge related to financial terms, definitions, and associated processes.
  • Product Manager or Product Owner Agile certification.  
  • Strong stakeholder management includes navigating difficult situations, negotiating timelines, and influencing internal and external stakeholders across organizations and borders.
  • Ability to excel in a large, matrix environment.
  • Strong communications skills - you can summarize and express complex requirements in an accessible and precise manner.
  • Experience working with direct API Payment integrations, Saas and BaaS servicing models, as well as hosted payments solutions.
  • Experience in deploying products on a global scale is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with teams comprised of both on-shore and off-shore models is recommended.
  • Business acumen to be able to translate business value from a roadmap/vision to tactical execution.
  • Experience with backlog creation and management in common tools (Confluence, Figma, Jira, etc.)
  • Prior experience working as a Product Owner in an Agile Transformation environment.
  • Experience with various Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, etc.)
