We’ve got big plans to expand into new markets and make a meaningful impact on the world of payments. To help us get there, our Finance team is on the lookout for a new Head of Accounting & Tax.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Accounting & Tax to lead our finance, tax, and accounting functions across Spain, UK and Latin America. This role is crucial in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency while supporting the company’s growth and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a hands-on approach to managing complex financial operations in a multinational environment.
Your responsibilities
- Financial Leadership: Oversee and manage the finance, tax, and accounting teams across multiple geographies, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Lead and mentor a team of approximately 5 professionals, including accountants and consolidation accountants.
- Financial Close & Reporting: Direct the month-end and year-end financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for all entities within the group. Conduct comprehensive reviews and provide recommendations to enhance efficiency and streamline operations.
- Audit & Compliance: Lead group and local audits of financial statements on an annual basis, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
- Accounting System Implementation: Oversee the global implementation of a new accounting system, ensuring smooth transition, integration, and adoption across the organization.
- Internal Controls & Risk Management: Develop, implement, and enforce robust internal controls to safeguard company assets, improve processes, and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures. Fixed asset control.
- Mergers & Acquisitions: Support corporate restructuring, mergers, and acquisitions within the group, providing accounting and tax impact assessments to facilitate decision-making.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with senior management, external auditors, tax authorities, tax advisors, and financial institutions to support business operations and strategic initiatives.
About you
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, preferably in a multinational environment. Experience managing financial operations across multiple countries is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- Fluency in Spanish and English is required
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements in Spain and LATAM. Experience with ERP systems and financial software implementations is a plus
- Outstanding analytical skills
- Self-motivated, with ability to lead and drive change initiatives, can-do attitude
- Good organisational/time management skills, structural thinking
- Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic insights
- Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and communicate financial insights effectively to senior management
