As a Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for safeguarding the companyβs legal interests and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role involves independent work on legal matters across various jurisdictions, with a focus on contract management, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance, particularly within the Fintech industry.
Probation Period Tasks:
- Independently audit and prepare contracts and agreements with clients and vendors, ensuring they comply with company policies and relevant financial documentation.
- Maintain and update international labor contracts between the company and private entrepreneurs or contractors.
- Develop and propose alternative labor relations frameworks for employees and contractors, both locally and internationally.
- Collaborate with the Finance team on negotiations with third-party providers, including employer-of-record models.
- Conduct research on relevant international and local laws, drafting clear legal opinions with actionable recommendations.
- Manage the trademark registration process and initiate research on patent acquisitions to protect intellectual property.
- Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support as needed, ensuring all documentation is aligned with company operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, negotiate, and review contracts with clients and vendors, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct thorough legal research and produce well-structured legal opinions on international and local laws, with a focus on Fintech regulations.
- Manage the trademark registration process to ensure the protection of the company's intellectual property in multiple jurisdictions.
- Initiate and oversee patent research and filing processes for global intellectual property rights.
- Perform due diligence on new contractors and partnerships to mitigate legal risks.
- Support international tax planning efforts by providing legal guidance on cross-border transactions and contract structuring.
- Maintain international labor contracts, ensuring compliance with both local and international labor laws, particularly for private entrepreneurs.
- Collaborate with the Finance team to manage negotiations related to employer-of-record models and other contractual matters.
- Ensure that all existing contracts and agreements align with the companyβs financial and operational strategies.
Requirements & Skills:
- 1+ years of experience in legal work, particularly in contract management and international operations.
- Strong experience in drafting and negotiating contracts independently, with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with international tax planning, labor laws, and compliance.
- Proficient in conducting legal research and preparing clear and actionable legal opinions.
- Previous experience or knowledge of the Fintech industry is an advantage.
- Ability to manage intellectual property tasks, including trademark registration and patent research.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating legal risks.
- Strong organisational skills, capable of handling multiple tasks and projects independently.
- Proficiency in English at a B2 level or higher, with strong communication skills for drafting legal documents and negotiating with third parties.
