Senior Product Owner – Bank payments

We are looking for a Senior Product Owner with deep expertise in banking services, APIs, and financial flows to help us unlock the next frontier of payments in Africa.

You will be responsible for driving our bank payment product strategy — expanding our capabilities, integrating new banking partners, and translating complex banking functionality into solutions that solve real merchant problems.

This role is about more than just building integrations — it’s about being a subject matter expert in banking infrastructure and aligning it with the evolving needs of our merchants. You’ll need to understand financial regulations, banking ecosystem and how to bring scalable, reliable B2B products to life.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Own and drive the roadmap for bank payments, from APIs and integration flows to regulatory alignment and business value.
• Be the go-to expert on banking services, including how they work, how they’re structured, and how they integrate.
• Translate merchant needs into relevant banking capabilities and build product solutions that solve real problems.
• Work closely with our other teams to ensure the product meets both technical and regulatory requirements while aligning with business and partner goals.
• Design and deliver robust APIs, dashboards, and reporting tools that scale with our business and provide a world-class experience for developers and prospects alike.
• Use Agile methodologies to deliver features incrementally and iteratively, while ensuring alignment with market needs.
• Define and track success metrics that align with business and merchant outcomes.
• Simplify and communicate complex banking concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences across internal and external teams.
• Ensure that sales, support, and operations are equipped to deliver and maintain the banking capabilities you help build.

What is expected of an ideal candidate?

• 5+ years of experience in product management or ownership, particularly in banking, fintech, or B2B payments.
• Strong understanding of banking services, APIs, and financial flows, with a working knowledge of regulatory frameworks and financial institution responsibilities.
• Experience working with national switches, financial institutions, and complex integration ecosystems.
• Proven ability to build and scale B2B products including developer-facing APIs, internal dashboards, and operational reporting tools.
• Skilled at translating complex banking flows into simple, intuitive experiences for merchants and colleagues.
• A collaborative mindset, comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, compliance, partnerships, and operations.
• Self-driven, highly accountable, and outcome-oriented.
• A passion for building financial infrastructure and a desire to make a tangible impact on financial inclusion in Africa.
