Position Overview
We're looking for a Backend Infrastructure Engineer to design and build the core systems that power our data workflows, machine learning pipelines, and production services. You'll design, develop and own scalable backend infrastructure using cloud-native technologies, support high-velocity research and ML development, and collaborate across teams to ensure secure, performant, and reliable systems.
This role bridges backend development and infrastructure engineering, focusing on scalable data systems rather than traditional DevOps/MLOps. It is ideal for seasoned backend engineers who thrive in fast-paced, data-rich environments.

Responsibilities

• Build cloud-based data processing and exploration pipelines along with ML infrastructure to power customer-facing analytics and insights.
• Develop, test, and deploy fault-tolerant code with comprehensive observability in our Kubernetes cluster.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks and optimize system performance.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in backend development in a cloud environment.
• Strong computer science fundamentals in coding, OOP, data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in at least one general purpose programming language and quick adaptability to new ones.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code deployments (terraform, cloudformation), and container orchestration in a Kubernetes cluster.
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect) - an advantage.
• Experience in building and maintaining distributed computation systems - an advantage.
• CI/CD tools experience (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) - an advantage.
