This position is for the Payments Hub team. We are currently extending our cloud native payments processing platform to Santander banks and other financial institutions, with the aim of providing a single access to most domestic and international payment methods at global scale.

YOUR MISSION:

The AWS engineer is accountable for the stability, scalability and fault tolerance of the cloud platform currently running on AWS.

The engineer is responsible for designing, building, extending and running the platform. The current platform leverages open source and other components, is largely terraformed and has been running in production for several years, processing payments worth billions of dollars. They are also responsible to mentor more junior team members.

The current mission is to migrate to Kubernetes and extend the platform and application suite to provide multi-region fault tolerance.

The ideal candidate has experience with cloud platforms as a senior engineer, is constantly looking for ways to simplify the system, automates what is understood, and provides more self-service for the users. They roll-up their sleeves and dig into the details. They measure the success of their actions through hard and soft metrics and are driven to make every developer’s life better, while keeping our customers’ data safe.

SUCCCESS FOR THIS ROLE:

  • We have decommissioned our current orchestration engine fully.
  • We run our platform across multiple regions and in the future multiple cloud providers.
  • Squads can do self-service for new microservices, databases, etc.
  • Squads can spin up ephemeral environments on demand.

REQUIRED SKILSS, KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDES:

 Degree in computer science, or software engineering.

  • Multiple years experience as cloud infrastructure in an agile environment.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, GCP, Helm, Terraform.
  • Customer focus, we are building the platform for our developers.
  • Cyber security best practices.
  • Automate everything mindset.
  • Growth mindset, where everything is possible, and change is welcome.
  • AWS certifications are a plus.
  • Ideal to have some knowledge of PCF or Tanzu (VMware)

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?

We are rapidly expanding our teams and the number of payments we process, and we will end up being one of the largest payments processors globally. Lead Tier

The lead engineer guards architectural integrity of our solution, shapes the roadmap and solves the hardest problems. They coach and mentor the team, set out learning paths for the team.

They have a wide and deep experience designing, building and running distributed systems in the cloud for 8+ years.

 Senior Tier

Senior engineers solve the hard problems, and they work across teams to drive architecture, resiliency, and cyber security.

They coach and mentor other team members and help them successfully solve their tasks.

They have 5+ years experience with AWS and ideally with other cloud providers. They master several frameworks, languages and tools and can pick the right tool for the job.

Mid-Level Tier

Mid-level engineers solve simpler, more localized problems, under the guidance of senior engineers. They have 3+ years experience with AWS, and potentially other cloud providers. They are fluent in the core tooling, and are extending their mastery of AWS
