Outbrain is seeking an energetic Financial Accountant, Global Distribution to join a dynamic global finance team based in our India (Gurugram) office, with a focus on both corporate and US accounting functions.

Our corporate accounting team is responsible for the global accounting and reporting of Outbrain across various international locations. You will play a key role in ensuring the maintenance and integrity of certain account ledgers with a heavy focus on the End of Month/Quarter/Year-end process.

This role reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager, with a dotted line to the Director of Finance located in Gurgaon. It represents a great opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of a finance department in a rapidly growing digital organization.

Description:
Outbrain is seeking an accountant to join a dynamic finance. This person should be motivated to make an impact and help drive improvement in a growing Company.  Our team is made up of individuals who are resourceful, bright, proactive, and who work well both independently and as part of a global team.

Analytical and process driven, this role will primarily be responsible for owning the calculations, tracking, reporting, and analysis of our global publisher (Engage) business. Directly interfacing with our Business and Finance teams around the world, this person will assist important process improvement efforts across the team. As seen on our website, Outbrain works with world renowned publishers such as CNN, Le Monde and many more.

For this position, we are committed to finding a detail-oriented accountant who can work efficiently in Excel and communicate well with the business team, manage aspects of the monthly close, and drive positive process changes across the business and different cross functional departments. 

Your first year in the job should look like this:

- In your first month, you should find your bearings, do a deep dive into the landscape of the Engage side of Outbrain’s business, and start to build key internal understanding and relationships.  You will learn to calculate guarantee payments due to publishers and book the correct accounting entries in our ERP system (NetSuite).

- After three months, you will be an expert in our publisher (Engage) contracts and key drivers of the business results. You’ll be able to confidently and effectively analyse and discuss our contracts and operating results, after completing your first quarterly analysis for internal reviewers.

- After six months, you will have successfully closed several months, making additional contributions to the efficiency of existing processes and building out additional reporting tools.

- Before you finish your first year, you’ll be an essential part of the Finance and Accounting team and a key contact person for our Global Business teams, having substantially increased Outbrain’s efficiencies and internal performance visibility up to Senior Management level.

 What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Accountant +4 years’ experience
  • Highly organised and self-motivated
  • Forensic attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills
  • An enthusiastic team player and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excel doesn’t make you sweat
  • High efficiency and love to drive processes that are beneficial for all teams involved
  • You understand how to think analytically and can summarize the key aspects of a work paper in a concise and visually simple summary without confusing the overall takeaway.
  • You are a team player willing to take on any task and enjoy working cross-functionally (i.e. Legal, Business Development, and Account Management)
