Role

This role goes far beyond classical grant administration. You will be responsible for strategically identifying, selecting, acquiring, and managing third-party funding at national, federal, European, and international levels — with a clear focus on funding programs that meaningfully advance our technology, product roadmap, and long-term innovation strategy.

What you'll do

  • Systematically identify relevant third-party funding opportunities at international, supranational, multilateral, national, federal and regional level (i.e. EU, NATO, SPRIND, Horizon 2020, etc.)
  • Evaluate funding programs, calls, and research initiatives based on strategic fit with the product and technology roadmap, scientific depth, and long-term innovation and financial impact.
  • Advise senior leadership proactively on promising research areas, funding instruments, and strategic funding opportunities.
  • Identify, initiate, and support strategic partnerships, including the formation of national and international research and innovation consortia.
  • Lead or coordinate the preparation of funding applications, ensuring high-quality conceptual framing, coherent research narratives, and alignment of technical, scientific, and business objectives.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders and external partners throughout the proposal development and submission process.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for funding bodies, project sponsors, and consortium partners across the full project lifecycle.
  • Oversee the administrative and contractual management of funded projects, from grant approval through completion, in close collaboration with finance, legal, and project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with funding regulations, reporting requirements, financial guidelines, and audit obligations across multiple parallel projects.
  • Support with the translation of funded research outcomes into strategic and operational value, supporting product development, innovation strategy, and the establishment of a sustainable research and funding framework.

About You

  • Proven experience in research funding, science management, innovation management, or R&D coordination, ideally in a technology-driven environment in defense or law enforcement related contexts.
  • Strong understanding of public and supranational funding landscapes, including application logic and evaluation criteria.
  • Solid academic background, with the ability to understand and assess complex research topics.
  • High analytical capability and strategic thinking
  • Strong research skills and intellectual curiosity, combined with a pragmatic business mindset.
  • Ability to work at the intersection of science, technology, and business.
  • Experience coordinating complex processes with multiple stakeholders.
  • Structured, reliable, and detail-oriented working style, especially in regulated funding environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; German is highly desirable.
