
Procurement Specialist

** This is a 12 month fixed-term contract position **
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing materials, components, and services necessary for the production and distribution of medical products. This role operates within an ISO 13485 certified environment, requiring strict adherence to quality management system requirements, regulatory guidelines, and company policies. The Procurement Specialist ensures timely delivery of high-quality goods and services at optimal cost, while mitigating risks and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
What you’ll be doing for us
- Sourcing and Supplier Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with ISO 13485 and other relevant regulations.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive approved supplier list (ASL).
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve favourable outcomes.
- Manage supplier relationships, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
- Procurement Process:
- Generate and process purchase orders in accordance with company procedures and quality system requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials and services.
- Monitor and track orders, resolve discrepancies, and expedite deliveries as needed.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier documentation.
- Implement and maintain an efficient procurement process flow.
- Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with ISO 13485 quality management system requirements.
- Manage the procurement of materials and services, ensuring full traceability of products.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations and standards that may affect procurement activities.
- Cost Management:
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.
- Analyse market trends and supplier pricing to optimise procurement costs.
- Prepare and manage procurement budgets.
- Inventory Management
- Collaborate with production planning and inventory control to ensure optimal inventory levels.
- Manage and minimise obsolete inventory.
What we are looking for in you
Essential
- Demonstrated ability to understand Life Science Manufacturing industry
- Comprehensive understanding of ISO13485
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to create clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation.
- Effective verbal communication skills for collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Desirable
- Recognised procurement or supply chain qualification
- Understanding of Sage 200 Professional
- Experience working with electronic Quality Management Systems (eQMS), particularly in the context of creating and managing technical documentation.
