Field Application Scientist I (FISH)

An opportunity has arisen in our North America commercial team for a Field Application Scientist I (FISH).
You would be responsible for technical support and customer training for our Cytocell™ FISH products as well as supporting the commercial team in a pre- and post-sales capacity. We seek someone who is a self-motivated, critical thinker capable of adapting quickly to fluid scenarios utilizing their technical expertise with the goal of providing high level customer service.
Your duties will include:
- Deliver training on OGT’s Cytocell™ FISH products including probes, FFPE pretreatment kits, and ancillaries
- Provide technical support for our FISH products
- Work collaboratively with the North American Commercial team in pre and post-sales scenarios for Cytocell™ FISH products
- Work with Commercial, Marketing, R&D, and Quality teams to ensure the highest levels of customer service to accounts
- Understand customer needs and application of Cytocell™ FISH products utilizing continual learning of technologies, products and marketplace
- Provide customer requirements and feedback to facilitate Marketing and R&D teams for development of future products
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
What we’re looking for in you:
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Scientific Discipline
- Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience processing FISH (Haematology, FFPE, Bladder and Constitutional) and performing analysis
- Thorough knowledge of Cytogenetic/FISH applications techniques required
- Software/IT literate
- Excellent written and spoken English, along with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Customer service oriented
- Well organized in approach with good time management
- Effectively manage multiple tasks/accounts/priorities simultaneously
- A problem solver
- Able to work collaboratively with customers and colleague’s with excellent attention to detail
- Strong analytical and judgement skills
- Microsoft Office skills
- Remote employee based out of a home office
- Availability for minimum of 50% business travel to visit/support customers and attend appropriate exhibitions (ability to travel to Canada required and occasional travel to UK required).
Desirable
- 5 years hands-on experience processing FISH (Haematology, FFPE, Bladder and Constitutional) and performing analysis
- Demonstrated FISH troubleshooting experience
- ASCP(CG) certification
- Understanding and application of ISCN nomenclature
- Familiarity and experience with FISH automation systems
- Excellent presentation skills (PowerPoint competent)
- Understanding of CAP, CLIA and other NA clinical lab accreditations.
