Paralegal

London

The Company

Octopus Legacy is the place to plan for death and find support after loss.

Having been on our own startup journey, Octopus Group recently bought a stake in our company to supercharge our growth, and now we’re one of the fastest growing companies within the UK’s most exciting group (you may have heard of some of our sister companies…)

With our new brand and the Octopus platform at our disposal, we’re already transforming the way that people experience the process of planning for and dealing with death.

We’ve assembled a crack team to prepare us for that scale, and you could be the missing piece we’re looking for!

The Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Paralegal to join our team. In this role, you'll be reviewing wills created through our online platform, making sure they meet legal standards, reflect our clients' wishes, and maintain top-notch quality. Your expertise will give our clients confidence that their estate planning documents are both accurate and effective. During our busy campaign seasons, you'll need to handle a high volume of work efficiently. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-growing environment, stays sharp, and keeps up the pace without ever sacrificing quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review wills written using the online platform to ensure they meet legal and procedural requirements.
  • Verify that the content aligns with the client’s stated preferences and complies with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Identify and correct errors or inconsistencies in grammar, phrasing, or legal terminology.
  • Provide constructive feedback to clients or escalate complex cases to senior legal advisors when necessary. This will be through email / phone and sometimes video conferencing.
  • Maintain accurate records of reviewed documents and ensure all data is handled securely and confidentially.
  • Collaborate with the client support team to address client queries and provide clarification on will-related issues.
  • Collaborate with legal teams and resources to stay informed about current estate planning laws and regulations
  • Maintain a meticulous record-keeping system to track client information, preferences, and any legal documentation

Who Are You?

  • You have 1+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, in a corporate or startup environment (preferred).
  • You have knowledge of Wills, Probate and Lasting Power of Attorney (preferred).
  • You can handle high-volume workloads while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal language.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to client confidentiality and data protection.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and willingness and patience with clients.
  • Flexible -  you may need to extend beyond typical job duties, especially during peak times during campaigns
  • Strong organisational skills and time management - there will be times of high volume!

Our Mission

When people think about planning for death they think about wills, life insurance and funerals. We take these cold processes and turn them into something more human. Share more than money: leave voice notes, music, recipes. Shape a legacy that connects you while you're here. And after you're gone.

Founded by Sam after his mum died suddenly, we’re a group of people who work in death because we’ve been affected by it. We know the difference a good plan makes, and what it’s like when there isn’t one.

Death can come between us, leave mess, legal fees, frustration. But it can also make us stronger. We see a world where people talk openly about death, and work out the real meaning of legacy, one that connects to them. We’re here to make that world happen.
