With our new brand, the Octopus platform at our disposal and a Top Secret plan to achieve radical scale we’re already transforming the way that people experience the process of planning for and dealing with death. 

We’ve assembled a crack team to prepare us for that scale, and you could be the missing piece we’re looking for!

The Role

Looking to make a real impact in people’s lives while pioneering growth for a fast-paced, mission-driven startup? Join Octopus Legacy as our first Growth Marketing Lead. Backed by the trailblazing Octopus Group, you’ll have the freedom and support to build and scale our marketing efforts from the ground up, as we take on one of life’s biggest challenges and make it easier for people in difficult times.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with our Head of Marketing and startup team to define and implement growth strategies across PPC, paid social, digital, and offline channels—including launching entirely new initiatives.
  • Take full ownership of budget allocation and channel management, optimizing campaigns and tactics to maximize results while balancing a healthy CPA.
  • Spot, design, and test innovative growth opportunities to drive customer acquisition and retention, meeting ambitious growth targets.
  • Own creative testing end-to-end: brief, produce, and implement compelling content while collaborating with our brand team to drive fresh ideas and dynamic testing iterations.
  • Drive insights from multiple data sources, using these to set, evaluate, and communicate goals, constantly honing our strategy.
  • Report weekly on progress, bringing forward new ideas and identifying areas ripe for development and experimentation.
  • Shape the long-term strategy of our marketing channels: oversee budget distribution, refine targeting, and improve the customer journey from awareness through to conversion and retention.
  • Work cross-functionally with product and data teams to infuse our acquisition strategy with deep customer insights and behavior patterns, keeping LTV in focus.
  • Manage relationships with agencies, platforms, and external experts to expand capabilities and streamline execution.

Who Are You?

  • You bring at least 2 years of hands-on experience in a growth marketing role, ideally within another startup. 
  • You know your way around PPC, Paid Social (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), CRM platforms (Klaviyo, HubSpot), Google Analytics, and referral channels.
  • You’re comfortable with both online and offline performance marketing and have experience scaling acquisition efforts, lowering CAC, and creating a repeatable growth engine.
  • You’re an ambitious, proactive self-starter ready to tackle big challenges, move quickly, and own results. Thriving in a dynamic, change-heavy environment doesn’t intimidate you - it excites you.
  • You’re skilled at building relationships across teams and know how to tap into customer insights to shape impactful marketing strategies.
  • You’re motivated by performance, results, and goals, balancing analytical precision with creativity in experimentation.
  • With strong communication skills, you’re adept at showcasing marketing’s impact, whether to the wider team or the C-suite. You make data-driven decisions come alive and inspire confidence in the team.
