ABOUT THE ROLE:
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Firefly team, building and operating Flight Info Alerts - platform for distributing flight schedules and status updates to subscribed clients. You'll design and operate production services across our Azure cloud infrastructure, working with C# and Java services, and take broad ownership of infrastructure, pipelines, and system architecture. You'll work in a small, autonomous engineering team. You'll spend your time between shipping new features, evolving our platform architecture, and maintaining legacy products on a clear deprecation path.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Design, build, and operate scalable back-end services across our Flight Info Alerts product using cloud-native patterns on Azure
  • Build and run event-driven systems that process and distribute flight schedules and status updates at scale
  • Develop and maintain services in C#, and pick up Java when needed to support and evolve our existing codebase
  • Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform, own CI/CD pipelines, and drive deployment automation
  • Own services in production, from design through to deployment, monitoring, observability, and operational stability
  • Shape system architecture and the technical direction of the platform;
  • Identify and resolve technical debt, performance issues, and reliability risks before they escalate
  • Act as a trusted technical partner to the Team Lead, providing continuity, mentoring through code review, and raising engineering standards across the team
  • Work across a broad range of responsibilities: infrastructure updates, pipeline work, feature development, and operational support as team needs evolve.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Experience building and operating production back-end services in C# / .NET
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native architectures and AI or ML technologies in a production context
  • Experience designing and operating event-driven or distributed systems
  • Willing to work with infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar) in CI/CD-driven environments
  • Strong architectural thinking, with attention to scalability, reliability, and maintainability, and the ability to own work from design through to production
  • Comfortable making technical decisions and explaining the trade-offs behind them
  • A continuous-improvement mindset, happy to question existing solutions, refactor legacy systems, and mentor others through code review and shared problem-solving
  • Willingness and ability to pick up additional technologies (like Java) when needed to support the team and platform
  • Able to work autonomously as well as a strong team member across a broad range of technical work
  • Fluent English (B2 or higher).

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
