Director, Competitive Insights

Houston; New York; San Francisco; Seattle

About the role: The AI infrastructure market moves weekly. As the Director of Competitive Insights, you will not just track competitors; you will translate complex market movements—such as new Nvidia allocations, legacy cloud architectures, and emerging liquid-cooling benchmarks—into field-ready, offensive playbooks. You are a player-coach who will own the strategic narrative on exactly how we beat legacy clouds and neo-cloud challengers. You will dive into the technical weeds of parallel computing and network topology, extract the vulnerabilities of our competitors, and build a scalable intelligence engine that gives our sellers an unfair advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Threat Modeling: Continuously monitor and reverse-engineer the product roadmaps, pricing changes, and data center deployments of legacy hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and emerging GPU clouds (CoreWeave, Lambda).
  • Actionable Field Battlecards: Distill deep-tech competitive intelligence into highly practical, easy-to-digest battlecards, technical objection-handling guides, and pricing takedowns for the Account Executives.
  • Win/Loss Analysis: Lead rigorous, objective win/loss interviews with recent prospects. You will identify exactly where our pitch failed or succeeded against competitors, feeding this data directly back into our GTM and Product strategy.
  • Executive Market Briefings: Serve as the internal authority on market dynamics, providing the executive team with structured briefings on macro-level shifts in AI compute demand and competitor supply chain bottlenecks.
  • Architectural Benchmarking: Partner with engineering to run performance benchmarks on competitor clusters, proving Nscale's superiority in terms of latency, PUE, and overall TCO.

You may be a good fit if you have:

  • 8+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, technical product marketing, or technical sales within the cloud computing, AI infrastructure, or semiconductor space.
  • Deep technical understanding of GPU clusters, infiniband/ethernet networking, and the broader AI hyperscaler landscape. You can comfortably read a competitor's technical whitepaper and immediately spot the flaws in their architecture.
  • A proactive, investigative mindset. You demonstrate high agency in hunting down obscured technical or pricing data in a highly ambiguous, fast-moving market.
  • Exceptional storytelling abilities. You know how to turn a complex technical advantage into a simple, devastatingly effective sales pitch.
  • Cross-functional clout; you are respected equally by the sales floor for your commercial instincts and the engineering team for your technical accuracy.
