About the Role
We’re hiring a Senior Manager US Tax Compliance & Reporting to lead Nscale’s US tax compliance, financial reporting, and operational tax workflows across federal, state, and local requirements.
This role sits within Finance / Tax, reporting directly to the Director US Tax Strategy with a dotted line to the Senior Director Tax Compliance & Reporting. You’ll work closely with the broader finance and accounting teams, partner with the global tax team on transfer pricing and cross-border matters, and manage external US tax advisors across federal and SALT compliance and audit activity.
As Nscale continues to scale, this role is central to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our US tax numbers, strengthening compliance frameworks, and supporting financial integrity as the business grows. From ASC 740 reporting to SALT execution and tax governance, you’ll help shape the tax foundation that supports Nscale’s long-term growth.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the preparation and timely filing of US federal corporate income tax returns.
- Oversee all state and local income and franchise tax filings with a strong focus on multi-state compliance.
- Manage registrations, reporting, and reconciliation processes across US indirect taxes.
- Own operational tax workflows across sales and use tax, property tax, and gross receipts taxes.
- Support quarterly and annual tax provisioning processes under US GAAP (ASC 740).
- Prepare and review effective tax rate analysis, deferred tax computations, and valuation allowances.
- Assess uncertain tax positions in line with FIN 48 requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of US tax reporting within the broader financial reporting cycle.
- Manage Nscale’s expanding state and local tax footprint, including nexus determination and operational tax obligations.
- Coordinate external US tax advisors across federal and SALT matters, compliance activity, and audits.
- Review advisor deliverables for accuracy, quality, and alignment with internal tax positions.
- Drive efficiency and cost control through effective management of advisor data requests and deliverables.
- Coordinate federal, state, and local tax audits and inquiries.
- Maintain the US tax compliance calendar to support timely execution across obligations.
- Drive adoption of tax technology tools to automate workflows and improve data accuracy.
- Strengthen tax-related internal controls, governance, and process automation in partnership with finance and accounting.
- Partner with the global tax team to ensure transfer pricing requirements, intercompany transactions, and cross-border provisions are accurately reflected in US filings.
- Track federal, state, and local legislative developments, with particular focus on evolving SALT regulations, nexus thresholds, and indirect tax changes.
- Support the execution of federal and local credits and incentives within the broader US tax framework.
- Manage and develop a growing tax compliance and reporting team, starting with one direct report as the function scales.
About You
- 8+ years of experience in US state, local, and federal tax compliance and reporting.
- CPA or equivalent U.S. professional qualification required.
- Deep practical experience across SALT, including income tax, indirect tax, and nexus analysis.
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP (ASC 740) and tax reporting requirements.
- Experience managing US federal, state, and local direct tax filings in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated success overseeing tax reporting processes and managing external advisors.
- Familiarity with tax provisioning software and broader tax technology tools.
- High proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
- Highly adaptable, commercially minded, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Salary Range
The range below reflects the base salary for the position. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors such as skill set, experience, education, and location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for bonus, equity, and/or commission programs. Nscale may offer a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, flexible paid time off, parental leave, and retirement plan participation.
Salary Range
$150,000 - $250,000 USD
