Nothing's debut smartphone, Phone (1), earned Time Magazine’s prestigious Best Inventions for Innovative Smartphone Design award. Through cutting-edge design and user interface innovation, the London-based company is creating an alternative ecosystem of tech products for the young and creative.
In 2023, the company launched Phone (2) to wide acclaim from its community, the media, and design enthusiasts, and in 2024, Nothing launched its CMF Phone 1, and Nothing Phone (2a) Series, with both receiving an overwhelmingly positive reception.

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Marketing Lead with a proven track record of growing the consumer tech brands in Japan.
You will play a key role in establishing a unique and iconic brand in Japan by driving locally relevant marketing initiatives aligned with local business goals and global marketing strategy.
Act as the conductor of all marketing functions - PR, digital, influencer, social & content, and partner marketing - ensuring each team and partner drives outstanding marketing campaigns and programs and delivers quality outputs that meet measurable KPIs. Success in this role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. You’ll drive awareness, brand love, and product demand by deeply understanding Japanese consumers and finding innovative ways to connect with them.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy for Japan, and lead the Japan Marketing team
- Develop and implement scalable marketing campaigns and programs for Japan, from planning to execution and reporting
- Work closely with GM, local function leads and global marketing and align local goals and global marketing strategies
- Oversee the local agencies (PR, Ad, Digital, Influencers, Production) and local marketing contractors
- Manage marketing projects, resources and budgets
- Own and monitor marketing key performance measurables in Earned, Owned and Paid marketing initiatives
- Represent Japan in global marketing forums and advocate for local marketing strategy
Requirements:
- Significant experience in marketing, with a strong t proven rack record with Japanese consumer brands.
- Be the local voice of the brand, helping drive awareness and trust across all touchpoints
- Deep knowledge of mobile & audio technology, pop culture, internet culture, and social media trends, with a strategic mindset for influencing audience behaviour
- A good understanding of PR, Digital, Influencers and Social & Content, with marketing analytics and data analysis to translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Results-driven, with a clear focus on achieving KPIs to drive business outcomes
- Bilingual: fluent in Japanese and advanced/business in English
