About the Role

We are looking for a knowledgeable and hands-on Senior Facility Engineer to support the technical operations of our data centers across the BeNeLux region. This role provides advanced engineering expertise, leads site technicians from a technical standpoint, and ensures our facilities meet the highest standards of availability, safety, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering skills with solid operational experience in critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Operations Manager in implementing, optimizing, and managing the Preventive Maintenance (PPM) program across multiple sites.
• Act as the on-site technical lead for major emergency maintenance activities and complex interventions.
• Serve as the first point of contact for the nLighten Design & Construction team for upcoming major retrofitting works and technical evaluations.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to Site Technicians in the BeNeLux region.
• Act as main point of contact for the design and construction team before and during major upgrade works
• Review and validate technical documentation including MOPs, maintenance plans, and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
• Perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) of incidents, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
• Ensure customer Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements are consistently met and maintained.
• Identify and drive improvements in facility performance, with a focus on efficiency, energy optimization, and PUE reduction.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of building systems and critical infrastructure to ensure reliability and operational readiness.
• Participate in the on-call rotation to support urgent alarms and operational issues.
• Travel regularly across BeNeLux sites and occasionally to other European locations as required.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in nLighten operational applications.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (one week at a time) to respond to urgent alarms remotely or on-site.
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in data centers or other mission-critical environments (e.g., Oil & Gas, offshore, industrial, utilities).
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems: UPS, generators, cooling systems, fire suppression, LV distribution, BMS/DCIM.
• Demonstrated experience with maintenance management, technical reviews (MOP/EOP), and RCA methodologies.
• Ability to lead technicians, coordinate technical work, and act as a senior escalation point.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and methodical approach.
• Solid understanding of energy efficiency metrics and optimization measures (PUE, airflow management, load balancing…).
• Comfortable working independently and managing priorities across multiple sites.
• Willingness to travel within the BeNeLux and occasionally across Europe.
• Fluency in English is required; Dutch is a strong advantage.
