Firmware Test Engineer

Role Summary
As Firmware Tester at Nexxiot, you will be the quality gatekeeper for our Industrial IoT solutions. Your mission is to ensure our embedded software performs flawlessly in real-world conditions. This role goes beyond scripting—you’ll work hands-on with hardware, set up test environments, and validate firmware through rigorous testing. You’ll design test cases, document results, and collaborate across teams to deliver secure, high-performing solutions. Key Responsibilities
Testing Framework & Validation
- Design and implement test frameworks to validate firmware against product requirements.
- Create and execute test cases, document test activities, and prepare detailed reports.
- Establish and maintain CI/CD best practices for automated testing using GitLab pipelines.
- Perform testing across all levels—from unit tests to full system acceptance.
Hands-On Hardware Work
- Set up and configure hardware test environments.
- Perform board bring-up and troubleshoot electronic components.
- Work on projects involving hardware integration and validation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with hardware, product, cloud, and production teams to ensure seamless integration across the technology stack.
- Represent firmware testing in design reviews and cross-functional projects.
Quality, Security & Compliance
- Ensure firmware meets safety, security, and regulatory standards for industrial applications.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for all testing processes.
Required Experience & Skills
- Engineering degree (Electronics or related field).
- 5–10 years of experience in embedded firmware testing.
- Strong hands-on experience with electronics (soldering, component-level work, hardware setup).
- Proficiency in Linux and programing in Python (must-have).
- Experience creating test cases, writing test reports, and documenting test activities.
- Knowledge of GitLab pipelines.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Raspberry Pi or other open-source hardware platforms.
- Familiarity with low-power design, wireless protocols (LTE, NB-IoT, BLE), and security measures.
- Background in IoT or industrial domains.
