Global Head of O&M Engineering

THE ROLE

The Global Head of O&M Engineering will lead and continuously evolve Wise Energy’s global Operations & Maintenance (O&M) engineering capability across all regions, asset classes and client portfolios. This senior, strategically critical role sets global engineering standards, shapes O&M strategy, and ensures consistent, high-quality delivery through third party partners to maximise long term asset value. This role ensures that all O&M expenditure translates into superior asset performance, reliability, and long-term value creation. As the strategic owner of O&M relationships, the position will establish trusted partnerships, define clear expectations, and rigorously manage provider performance to deliver excellence

Acting as WiseEnergy’s senior technical authority for operational assets, you will oversee asset performance, availability, compliance and risk mitigation through strong governance and data-led oversight. You will also ensure that operational insights inform future asset design, construction and investment strategies.

As a key member of the Wise Senior Leadership Team, you will build trusted relationships across WiseEnergy and the wider NextEnergy Group, develop engineering capabilities and contribute to high-quality service delivery for clients and fund managers.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Global O&M Strategy & Standards

  • Define and continually refine global O&M engineering standards, processes and governance frameworks.
  • Shape long-term O&M strategies that balance cost, performance, risk and lifecycle value.
  • Ensure strategies support WiseEnergy’s ESG commitments, safety culture and long-term asset integrity.

O&M Partner & Procurement Leadership

  • Own global procurement frameworks, qualification criteria and performance expectations for O&M partners.
  • Lead senior provider relationships and act as escalation point for performance, safety and contractual matters.
  • Ensure contracts are commercially sound, value-focused and aligned with long-term asset objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement through benchmarking, structured reviews and lessons learned.

Asset Performance & Operational Oversight

  • Lead structured performance review frameworks (daily/annual) covering availability, yield, safety, compliance and commercial delivery.
  • Identify underperformance early and drive effective, value-focused recovery plans.
  • Provide senior challenge to ensure decisions protect long-term asset value.

Technical Support & Portfolio Risk Management

  • Provide expert technical support on asset failures, complex operational issues and emerging risks.
  • Identify systemic trends across portfolios and implement targeted, commercially driven mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure operational risks are proactively assessed and managed at asset and portfolio level.

Investment & Commercial Business Cases

  • Identify technical investment opportunities to improve performance, extend life, reduce risk or mitigate obsolescence.
  • Build clear, data-led and commercially grounded investment cases.
  • Partner with Asset Services, Performance Insights and Fund Managers to align investment with fund strategy and risk appetite.
  • Support capital prioritisation to maximise long-term risk-adjusted value.

Technical Network & Specialist Capability

  • Develop and maintain a global network of specialist engineers, consultants and contractors.
  • Ensure third-party work is well governed, commercially appropriate and high quality.

Feedback to Design & Construction

  • Ensure operational insights directly inform future designs, specifications and construction methodologies.
  • Champion improvements in maintainability, reliability, safety and lifecycle cost efficiency.

Leadership & People Development

  • Build and develop the O&M Engineering team, strengthening technical and commercial capability.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Mentor talent and contribute to broader organisational learning.

Senior Leadership & Client Engagement

  • Serve as part of the Wise Senior Leadership Team with accountability for engineering service delivery.
  • Engage confidently with clients, Boards and senior stakeholders on operational risks, investment options and value creation.
  • Build strong relationships across WiseEnergy and the wider NextEnergy Group.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 10+ years’ experience in O&M engineering within renewables, power generation or large-scale infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated success in leading O&M strategies and managing multi-country provider ecosystems.
  • Experience in negotiating and managing major service contracts.
  • Strong background in asset management, lifecycle optimisation and operational efficiency.
  • Experience implementing data-led performance management and KPIs.
  • Exposure to digital transformation and automation in O&M environments.
  • Leadership experience across dispersed, international teams.
  • Familiarity with performance analytics, digital platforms (e.g., Power BI) and AI-enabled insight.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
