Job description :
Location : 42 Cours Pierre Vasseur, 91120 PALAISEAU, France
Start date: June 2026
Contract: Full-time (CDI)
We are seeking a driven and talented engineer with expertise in semiconductor detector diodes. The role includes developing, optimizing, and deploying our integrated nanodetector R&D program. This role requires hands-on device development, technical depth, and close collaboration across internal teams.
Working under the Detector R&D Manager, you will own the technical execution of detector design projects — from high-level modeling and design rule definition to wafer-level validation and performance analysis — driving model-to-fab-to-test convergence through rigorous DOE campaigns and systematic data analysis.
This role establishes the detector design rules and learning loops that underpin NcodiN’s integrated receiver technology, accelerating our path from concept to industrialization.
What you will work on
- Design & development of integrated photodetectors on silicon (waveguide-integrated and, if relevant, resonant / cavity‑enhanced concepts)
- Optical / electromagnetic simulation to understand coupling, absorption, and spectral response
- Electro‑optical performance modeling (responsivity, bandwidth, noise, linearity, saturation)
- Experimental validation & characterization (DC and, depending on experience, RF): responsivity spectra, IV curves, S‑parameters, bandwidth estimation
- Cross‑functional collaboration with photonics design, process integration, and test; documentation of methods and results
Responsibilities
- Run and improve simulation workflows (e.g., FDTD/eigenmode/EM or equivalent) to support detector design decisions
- Translate simulation outputs into actionable design recommendations (geometry choices, tolerances, trade‑offs)
- Support (or lead, with experience) test planning and measurement campaigns; consolidate data and identify trends
- Correlate measurements with models; propose next design iterations and root-cause hypotheses when results diverge
- Maintain clear documentation (assumptions, versions, datasets, conclusions) to keep learning reusable
Requirements
- MSc (or equivalent experience) in photonics, optoelectronics, semiconductor physics, electrical engineering, or related field
- First experience (internship, PhD work, or industry) in photonic devices and/or photodetectors
- Solid understanding of key detector metrics: responsivity, dark current, noise, bandwidth (conceptual understanding is OK for junior)
- Strong data analysis skills; able to go from raw data to conclusions (Python/Matlab or equivalent)
- Curiosity, ownership, and ability to work collaboratively across functions
- Professional English
Nice to have
- Experience with silicon photonics platforms and layouts
- Familiarity with tools such as Lumerical, COMSOL, or similar
- Any exposure to RF measurement / modeling (VNA, de‑embedding, S‑parameters)
- Understanding of micro/nanofabrication constraints (etch bias, CD control, alignment)
- Version control / reproducible analysis habits
You don’t check all the boxes? Please submit an application anyway, we’ll be happy to consider it.
Benefits
- Comprehensive Health Care Plan
- Life Insurance
- Meal vouchers
- Commuter Benefit (50% refund of public transportation pass)
- Generous Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
- Flexible, hybrid workplace model
- Stock Option Plan
Actual pay will be based on several factors including work experience, location and education.
We strongly value a heterogeneous environment to bring perspective, experience and skills to the table, leading to innovation and creativity.
Paris pay range
€48.000 - €60.000 EUR
