Main Purpose
As Legal Counsel you will become part of the Napoleon Legal Department and will report directly to the Belgium Legal Director.
Although the scope of work is broad and diverse, the primary focus will be on social and labour law whereby you will act as the primary contact for the HR department.
In addition to the foregoing you will be highly involved in providing commercial and regulatory support and advice to all lines of business in order to enable Napoleon to accomplish its strategies and objectives while remaining within the boundaries of the applicable legal and regulatory framework.
In general you will ensure compliance with laws and regulations and with company procedures and translate the business strategy into relevant and practical legal documentation.
Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Provide accurate legal support and advice to all lines of business while acting as a SPOC for the HR department and come up with practical solutions based on legal and regulatory risk assessment in a variety of legal areas (labour law, gambling law, commercial law, contract law, intellectual property law, etc.). You ensure an efficient and effective service that meets the quality criteria of the organization within the set terms.
- Draft and review agreements to be entered into by Napoleon and contributing to the standardization of the legal documentation.
- Follow up of real estate portfolio and licenses in order to guarantee business continuity and guarantee the lawfulness of all related commercial and administrative aspects thereto.
- Assist the organization and follow-up on a variety of requests, claims, disputes and court cases to ensure the interests of Napoleon are properly defended and safeguarded.
- Actively follow-up on changes in existing legislation and on new legislation having an impact on Napoleon and translate such into understandable and ready-to-use input for the impacted business lines.
- Develop the “legal reflex” of the business in general by organizing trainings and drafting templates and assist the HR department in becoming more autonomous in their day-to-day activities without losing sight of the applicable legal framework.
Your profile
- You have a Master degree in Law and a professional experience of at least 5 years preferably in the fields of labour law.
- You have additional experience in commercial, corporate, administrative or gambling law or are at least keen to master these fields of law.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English both written and oral. Good knowledge of French and any other language is considered to be a strong plus.
- Being a self-starter, having a can-do attitude, being an out-of-the box thinker who can work autonomously and within a team with a great eye for detail.
