About the role

As Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO), you will support and deputise for the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in serving as a focal point for Moniepoint’s anti-financial crime and anti-fraud activities to mitigate related risks and ensure compliance with financial crime and fraud regulations. 

 

This is a unique opportunity to: 

  • Lead the design and implementation of the anti-financial crime and anti-fraud frameworks for a fast-growing fintech. 
  • Support the safe and risk-based development of payments products that increase financial inclusion and participation in the UK and abroad. 
  • Collaborate with innovative and ambitious product teams to build solutions that delight our customers whilst mitigating financial crime and fraud risks. 

 

We’re looking for a compliance professional who is a master of anti-financial crime and anti-fraud programmes. You’ll thrive in a fast-moving environment and demonstrate your ability to act quickly to identify and quantity risks, and advise partner teams on how best to mitigate them. You;ll also be able to deputise for the MLRO when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deputising for the MLRO: From time to time, you’ll deputise for the MLRO, providing strong oversight of financial crime and fraud operations, with an ability to make decisions and escalate, as appropriate. 
  • Policy development and implementation: Taking the lead on designing, implementing and maintaining financial crime and fraud policy frameworks and programmes across the UK business and future expansions. 
  • Governance and MI: Drafting key internal reports, such as the Annual MLRO report and enterprise-wide risk assessment, as well as regular MI and management committee meeting packs. 
  • Oversight and assurance: Oversee 1LoD activities, providing effective challenge and assurance over financial crime and fraud controls. 
  • Advisory: Collaborate with product teams to provide advice on financial crime compliance. 
  • Horizon scanning and internal communication: Identifying new financial crime and fraud regulations, and overseeing change management activities to ensure compliance. 
  • Training: Contribute to the development and delivery of training materials, and oversight of business-wide training completion. 
  • Account and transaction reviews: Perform account and transaction deep dives to assess risks and recommend remedial actions. 
  • Regulatory engagement: Support the organisation in engagement with regulators and authorities, including the FCA and NCA. 

 

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in financial crime and fraud compliance, ideally with Deputy MLRO experience. 
  • Proven, hands-on experience of developing policies and implementing frameworks in anti-financial crime roles, ideally in the payments and e-money sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK rules and regulations, particularly with respect to e-money institutions. Knowledge of risk management frameworks and control environments. 
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving environment, take decisions, and know when to escalate. 
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and analytical skills. Ability to communicate complex financial crime requirements and risk implications to a variety of audiences. 
  • Ability to effectively prioritise a complex and varied workload, with a strong eye for detail and precision in execution.
