NOC Engineer (L1 / L2)
Summary
The NOC Engineer (L1 / L2) is responsible for real-time monitoring, incident triage, and initial resolution across Momentum’s global infrastructure, including AWS, Azure, on-premise environments, production platforms, and corporate systems.
This role acts as the first and second line of defense, ensuring high availability, rapid incident response, and effective escalation in a 24x7 operational environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor infrastructure and applications using Datadog, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and Zabbix.
- Proactively identify, triage, and resolve incidents in accordance with defined SLAs.
- Perform fault diagnosis across AWS, Azure, and Linux-based systems.
- Log, track, and own incidents using ServiceNow, Jira, PagerDuty, or OpsGenie.
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to L2/L3, DevOps, or SRE teams with clear documentation and context.
- Execute runbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform operational tasks including service restarts, failovers, patch verification, and system health checks.
- Support production deployments, maintenance windows, and infrastructure changes.
- Validate monitoring alerts and continuously reduce false positives.
- Assist with Linux migrations (Amazon Linux 2 to AL2023) and support ECS capacity providers.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience in a NOC, infrastructure operations, or technical support role at L1 or L2 level.
- Strong Linux administration skills (Amazon Linux 2, AL2023, Ubuntu).
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, IAM, CloudWatch, VPC, RDS, and S3; exposure to Azure is a plus.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools including Datadog, Prometheus, and Zabbix.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, VPNs, load balancers).
- Familiarity with incident and ticket management tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, PagerDuty, or OpsGenie.
- Basic scripting skills in Bash and/or Python.
- Ability to follow runbooks, troubleshoot under pressure, and manage multiple incidents simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills for incident documentation, handovers, and cross-team coordination.
- Willingness to work in a 24x7 rotating shift pattern, including weekends and public holidays.
