VP Embedded Systems Engineer (all genders)

Munich, Germany

Join us as a VP of Embedded Systems Engineer (all genders) on a shared journey that matters!

At MOIA, we are building the autonomous mobility ecosystem of tomorrow. As part of the Volkswagen Group’s long-term vision for Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) and Transport-as-a-Service (TaaS), we are developing scalable SAE Level 4 autonomous vehicle systems that will redefine urban transportation.

We are looking for a visionary and execution-driven VP Embedded Systems Engineer to take end-to-end responsibility for the embedded systems powering our autonomous fleet. This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for architecture, integration, safety, validation, and release of the embedded platform across vehicle, backend, and mobility systems.

What you will do

  • Own the embedded systems strategy for autonomous mobility, from system definition to integration and validation, ensuring alignment with MOIA’s long-term product and platform vision.
  • Lead cross-functional development teams across software, hardware, testing, and connectivity platforms.
  • Ensure functional safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance across all components.
  • Orchestrate complex internal and external stakeholders, including VW Group units, technology partners, and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Oversee large-scale budgets, project planning, and strategic resource allocation.
  • Identify and implement cutting-edge technologies to ensure scalability and future-readiness.
  • Represent MOIA in key technical and product decision committees and act as a brand ambassador for all embedded-related topics.

What will help you to fulfill your role

  • Extensive leadership experience in embedded systems development, ideally within autonomous or highly automated vehicle programs (SAE Level 3/4).
  • Proven track record bringing complex automotive embedded systems from concept to production and release.
  • Deep expertise in embedded software and hardware architecture, system integration, validation, and test strategy definition.
  • Strong knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262), cybersecurity standards, regulatory compliance, and secure vehicle-to-cloud connectivity.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary engineering organizations (80+ FTEs) in complex stakeholder environments.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to navigate cross-brand, board-level, and partner-facing settings.
  • Strategic mindset combined with hands-on technical depth and high-stakes decision-making capability.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of tech innovation and platform scaling.
  • Exceptional communication skills and experience collaborating with executive and cross-brand stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English; German is a strong plus due to close collaboration within the VW Group ecosystem.

Why This Role Matters

This is not a functional leadership role - it is full system ownership. You will shape the embedded foundation of MOIA’s autonomous mobility platform, influence long-term vehicle architectures, and ensure safe, scalable, and production-ready systems for the next generation of transportation.
