Senior (Kotlin) Backend Engineer (m/f/d) - Tracking
Join us as a Senior (Kotlin) Backend Engineer (m/f/d) in our Tracking team and help shape the future of autonomous mobility!
The Tracking team plays a crucial role in keeping our autonomous vehicles on course. We are responsible for building reliable, real-time backend systems that process geospatial and telemetry data to enable precise vehicle monitoring and course correction. You’ll join a cross-functional team that consists of passionate experts in different areas like geospatial computation, navigation systems, distributed systems, and Kotlin development. Together, we will design, build, and run a scalable, resilient service that powers the core of our mobility system.
What you will do
- Build real-time tracking systems: Design and implement high-performance Kotlin services that process and enrich geospatial data streams from our AD vehicles.
- Ensure system reliability: Contribute to the stability, accuracy, and observability of services critical to our vehicle guidance infrastructure.
- Own features end-to-end: Collaborate closely with product, infrastructure, and other backend teams to ship meaningful improvements and new capabilities.
- Champion quality and resilience: Drive code reviews, test automation, and monitoring as best practices in a distributed, production-grade environment.
- Work in agile mode: Participate in iterative planning and delivery with a strong focus on team ownership and autonomy.
What will help you to fulfill your role
- You have strong Kotlin backend experience or are a seasoned developer in the JVM ecosystem and ready to transition to Kotlin.
- You’re curious about or have worked with geospatial data, map-matching, vehicle telemetry, or mobility systems.
- You enjoy solving distributed systems challenges and value clean, scalable and simple architectures.
- You are comfortable working in or learning about using Kubernetes and AWS.
- You value DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated observability.
- You thrive in a collaborative setup where feedback and pairing are part of the daily workflow.
- You bring a strong sense of ownership and a drive to improve how vehicles are guided and monitored.
- You communicate fluently in English.
We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds — even if you don’t meet every requirement. If you’re excited about the role and MOIA’s mission, we’d love to hear from you!
