The Security Specialist of Major Projects plays a key role in ensuring security requirements are effectively identified, integrated, and maintained throughout all phases of large-scale construction projects. In partnership with the Director of Risk Management – Corporate HSE & Security, this position collaborates with project managers, operations leaders, contractors, and external stakeholders to evaluate security risks, implement protective measures, and uphold corporate security standards. Serving as a trusted security advisor, the Security Specialist helps safeguard personnel, assets, information, and facilities while supporting the successful delivery of major projects. Success in this role requires a proactive approach to embedding security considerations into project planning, design, and execution, while balancing project schedules and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project-specific security plans for major capital, construction, and operational projects
  • Conduct security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses during project planning and execution phases
  • Ensure physical security requirements are incorporated into project designs, specifications, and operational procedures
  • Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with company security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Recommend risk mitigation strategies and monitor implementation effectiveness
  • Investigate security incidents affecting project sites and recommend corrective actions 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, 10+ years related experience, or equivalent combination
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by the Michels Review Team
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate security, physical security, project security, risk management, construction security, or a related field (desired)
  • Law enforcement, Military, and/or security experience (desired)
  • Experience supporting security for large-scale construction projects, including data center or other critical infrastructure project (desired)
