The Director of Government Contract Accounting will lead Michels’ efforts in accounting and reporting of all government contracts and related costing activities. This position will ensure compliance with government accounting regulations including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). This role will be cross-business and facilitate collaboration as well as communication within Michels. It involves establishing/modifying policies and processes as well as overseeing fulfillment of all relevant reporting requirements. Critical for success are the ability to juggle multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, build a high-performing team, communicate financial concepts with non-financial individuals, and demonstrate strong analytical skills.

What it takes:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or operations management, 10+ years’ experience in government contracting, including pre-award and post-award contract management or an equivalent combination.
- Extensive knowledge of FAR and CAS which includes experience with Incurred Cost Proposals/Submissions (ICP/ICS), Forward Pricing Rate Agreements (FPRA), and certified cost or pricing data requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and improving systems and procedures
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently develop and execute project management plans
- Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven, and an acceptable driving record as determined by Michels Review Team
- Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) or Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) designation (desired)
- Experience interfacing with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) (desired)
