Position Overview
As an Inventory Specialist, you will help maintain a comprehensive inventory management program supporting prefabrication operations, field construction activities, and project teams. You will be responsible for ordering, receiving, stocking, issuing, tracking, and auditing materials while ensuring inventory accuracy and availability.
This role serves as an important connection between operations, purchasing, vendors, and field teams, helping ensure critical project materials and supplies are available to support efficient project execution. Success requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, customer service, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inventory by ordering, receiving, stocking, storing, tracking, and issuing materials and parts.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and support inventory control processes.
- Support prefabrication operations and project teams with material availability and inventory management.
- Coordinate with purchasing, vendors, and project leadership to meet material requirements.
- Perform inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Promote a strong culture of safety throughout all warehouse and inventory activities.
What You'll Do
- Receive, inspect, stock, organize, and distribute inventory items supporting prefabrication and field construction activities.
- Maintain inventory records and enter inventory transactions into company software systems.
- Conduct inventory counts, audits, reconciliations, and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Communicate regularly with project leaders and field personnel to understand inventory and material support needs.
- Track and enter job cost data into company systems on a daily basis.
- Assist purchasing personnel with vendor quotations, material sourcing activities, and procurement support.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving activities while ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
- Maintain relationships with critical vendors and suppliers.
- Compile, organize, and maintain product information, documentation, and supporting records.
- Help optimize inventory levels while minimizing material shortages and excess inventory.
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, and operational efficiency.

What It Takes
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a parts room, warehouse environment, inventory management role, or inventory tracking system, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience ordering, receiving, stocking, storing, tracking, and issuing inventory items.
- Experience maintaining inventory records and working within inventory tracking software systems.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to support project teams, field personnel, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to accurately enter inventory transactions, job cost data, and inventory records into computer systems.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and inventory management software.
- Experience supporting purchasing activities, vendor communications, shipping, and receiving processes is preferred.
- Experience working within construction, utility, industrial, warehouse, electrical, or prefabrication environments is preferred.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities with limited supervision.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in warehouse, shop, yard, and outdoor environments.
- Ability to perform physically demanding inventory and material handling activities.
