The Yard Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all materials, tools, and equipment required for project execution are effectively procured, tracked, and managed. This role supports project teams by collaborating closely with team members on a daily basis and maintaining strong working relationships with external suppliers and vendors.
This position is based out of the project office located in Coquitlam, BC.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and promoting a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identifying and communicating workplace hazards and correcting or seeking assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Collaborate with the Senior Project Manager to develop and implement procurement strategies for construction materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Source and evaluate vendors, negotiate pricing and terms, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Issue purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve supplier-related issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, invoices, and supplier performance.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, optimizing logistics and minimizing costs.
- Monitor shipment status, address delays or issues, and ensure timely delivery to project sites.
- Oversee the loading and unloading of materials, ensuring proper handling, storage, and organization.
- Implement and maintain inventory control processes to optimize stock levels and reduce waste.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies with system records.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and field teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials to site.
- Assign tasks, optimize resource utilization, and support a positive, productive work environment.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in supply chain management or logistics is preferred.
- Proven experience in purchasing, logistics, or inventory management, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of procurement principles, inventory control methods, and logistics operations.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software and other relevant tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
