Position Overview
As an Energy Marshall, you will provide leadership and oversight for electrical safety, energization planning, lockout/tagout (LOTO) compliance, switching procedures, and commissioning-related electrical activities on mission-critical infrastructure projects. You will work closely with construction teams, electrical contractors, commissioning professionals, utility representatives, equipment vendors, and customer personnel to ensure energized systems are managed safely and in accordance with established project requirements. This role serves as a critical safeguard during construction, startup, testing, and turnover activities. Success requires extensive knowledge of electrical systems, energized work practices, commissioning processes, hazard mitigation, and electrical safety standards, along with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead energization planning and electrical safety activities throughout construction, commissioning, startup, and turnover phases.
- Manage and oversee Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs, switching procedures, and energized work coordination activities.
- Review energization plans, method statements, switching procedures, commissioning scripts, and startup documentation.
- Coordinate with electrical subcontractors, commissioning teams, equipment vendors, utilities, and project stakeholders to support safe system energization.
- Identify electrical hazards, operational risks, and safety concerns while developing mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, customer standards, OSHA regulations, NFPA guidance, and company safety expectations.
What You'll Do
- Support hyperscale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects throughout construction, commissioning, and operational readiness phases.
- Lead energization readiness reviews for electrical systems, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, transformers, and associated infrastructure.
- Facilitate switching activities and electrical isolation procedures while ensuring proper authorization, communication, and execution.
- Partner with project teams to evaluate risks associated with energized systems and develop safe work practices.
- Monitor electrical safety performance, commissioning activities, and startup milestones throughout project delivery.
- Serve as a trusted resource for project leadership regarding electrical safety, commissioning readiness, and energization planning.

What It Takes
- Associate's degree, technical degree, or equivalent industry experience and 5+ years of electrical construction, commissioning, operations, safety, or mission-critical infrastructure experience.
- Experience supporting energization, commissioning, startup, switching, or operational readiness activities on large-scale electrical infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, standby generation, grounding systems, and critical power infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), energized electrical work practices, switching procedures, and hazard mitigation processes.
- Experience interpreting electrical one-line diagrams, switching procedures, commissioning documentation, and startup plans.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards, commissioning processes, and mission-critical construction practices.
- Experience supporting hyperscale data center, utility, industrial, or mission-critical facility projects preferred.
- OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, NETA, electrical safety, commissioning, or related certifications preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel up to 75% and support onsite project assignments as required.
