As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will oversee the collection of tax-related data and reporting to federal, state, county, and local tax authorities. Success in this role requires a strong commitment to confidentiality when handling sensitive information, along with the ability to deliver highly accurate work within strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the point of contact for all inquiries from divisional leads. Ensure compliance with department service levels as established. Resolve issues, if possible, and escalate issues to management when necessary
- Provide resources and information to meet divisional needs. Maintain open communication with divisional and departmental leads to ensure coordination of finance and accounting needs
- Research and review tax filings before submittal; identify and correct any errors or discrepancies. Assess invoices for taxation; provide approval for Tax Accountants I and II to make necessary corrections
- Prepare tax filings, assist in responding to tax notices and inquiries. Complete required tax reporting in a timely manner
- Perform transactional data entry into system applications with a high degree of accuracy. Record financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments
- Analyze department processes and make recommendations for improvements. If approved, develop user procedures, guidelines and documentation; assist with training on new processes/functionality
- Maintain adherence to internal controls, tax calendar, and policy and procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, 7+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of sales/use/property tax (desired)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (desired)
- Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by Michels Review Team (desired)
