Designing the Details That Bring Projects to Life

At Mi‑Tech, we deliver comprehensive engineering, design, and construction support for utility and infrastructure projects—from planning through execution. Our multidisciplinary team focuses on practical, innovative solutions that drive constructability, efficiency, and long-term value.

As part of the Michels Family of Companies, Mi‑Tech supports a wide range of industries including civil, geostructural, telecommunications, transportation, mission critical, and water/wastewater. Our work spans thousands of projects—from straightforward builds to some of the most complex infrastructure challenges in the world.

Behind every successful project is accurate, detailed modeling—and that starts with strong BIM talent.

Position Overview

As a BIM Detailer, you will play a hands-on role in developing and maintaining 3D models and construction drawings that directly support project execution.

This position is focused on model production, detailing, and documentation, working alongside engineers, project managers, and BIM leadership. You will help ensure models are accurate, buildable, and aligned with project requirements—bridging the gap between design intent and field reality.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building models, solving technical challenges, and contributing to real-world construction outcomes without owning full coordination responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate 3D BIM models using Revit and other modeling tools
  • Produce detailed construction drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication-ready documentation
  • Incorporate markups, redlines, and design revisions into models and drawings
  • Assist in preparing models for coordination and clash detection processes
  • Ensure all models and drawings align with project specifications, design intent, and company standards
  • Support model setup, organization, and file management, including views, sheets, and version control
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and BIM leadership to resolve design details and drafting issues
  • Extract quantities, dimensions, and layout information to support construction planning and field teams
  • Maintain consistency with BIM standards, naming conventions, and modeling best practices
  • Prepare and update as-built drawings and record models based on field feedback
  • Participate in project meetings to stay aligned on scope, updates, and deliverables
  • Contribute to improving modeling workflows, tools, and efficiency across projects

What it takes?

  • 3+ years of experience in a BIM, VDC, or detailing role within construction or engineering environments
  • Strong proficiency with:
    • Revit
    • Navisworks (exposure to coordination workflows)
    • Bluebeam
    • Inventor (preferred)
  • Experience producing 3D models and 2D construction drawings
  • Familiarity with model-based workflows and drafting standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, project-driven environment
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in multi-discipline BIM environments (civil, structural, mechanical, etc.)
  • Exposure to construction processes and field installation practices
  • Familiarity with model organization, file management, and version control
  • Experience supporting infrastructure or heavy civil projects

Work Environment & Travel

  • Primarily office-based with collaboration across project teams
  • Occasional travel to project sites as needed
  • Exposure to active construction environments for project support
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple active projects

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
