Senior Engineer / Geotechnical Lab Coordinator - J.D. Hair & Associates

As a Senior Engineer / Geotechnical Lab Coordinator, you will be supporting our growing geotechnical exploration practice, working under our senior staff in charge of expanding these services to provide turnkey design/build solutions for Michels’ clients in various market sectors. Tasks include but are not limited to: coordinating and assisting with the execution of geotechnical site explorations and associated reporting; managing geotechnical field engineers and overseeing the geotechnical aspects of Michels’ internal material testing facilities.

What It Takes
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering, 5+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination
- Experience working in a geotechnical laboratory, assisting with site investigations, and report writing.
- Currently holding a Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Ability to accommodate occasional travel for meetings, site visits, and short-term field assignments (less than 1 week to support field staff)
- Must possess a valid driver's license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by the Michels Review Team
Preferred
- Prior geotechnical laboratory management experience
- Actively involved in professional societies and on technical committees related to work
