We’re looking for a Legal Counsel focused on privacy and compliance who can turn complex regulation into practical, scalable solutions that enable the business to move fast, safely.

What you’ll do

You’ll operate at the intersection of product, commercial, and compliance, acting as a trusted partner across the organisation.

• Act as the go-to legal partner for teams across product, marketing, sales, data, and security, embedding “privacy by design” in how we build and operate
• Structure, draft, and negotiate data protection and commercial terms in sales and vendor agreements
• Partner closely with the product team to embed privacy and compliance into the product development lifecycle, ensuring new features and data uses are designed and launched in line with applicable regulations
• Design and maintain scalable policies, templates, and internal frameworks that enable consistent, high-quality decision-making
• Drive compliance initiatives and improve internal processes, with a focus on usability and adoption rather than bureaucracy
• Support sales in enterprise discussions, helping reduce friction in privacy negotiations while managing risk pragmatically
• Lead vendor-related legal work, including onboarding, risk assessments, and ongoing governance
• Translate evolving global privacy requirements into actionable guidance for product, marketing, and operations
• Work with internal risk management to identify, assess, and mitigate legal and operational risks, and ensure structured escalation and follow-up of non-standard or high-risk scenarios
• Educate teams and raise overall compliance literacy across the company
• Review and ensure maintenance of the company’s privacy policies and related governance frameworks

Who you are

• Law degree (jur.kand or equivalent) with ~2-3 years’ experience from a law firm or as an in-house counsel
• Solid hands-on experience in data privacy and information security
• Excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management ability
• Comfortable working cross-functionally and close to the business
• Strong in contract drafting and negotiation, especially in commercial contexts
• Able to balance legal risk with product and business realities
• Proactive, structured, and comfortable driving your own initiatives
• Excellent proficiency in English, both written and oral communication

Bonus

• Experience in SaaS, cloud, or product-led companies
• Understanding of technical concepts like cloud infrastructure, data flows, or AI
• Experience building scalable compliance frameworks, not just advising on them

📍 Location: This is primarily an onsite role at Mentimeter HQ in Stockholm, with the opportunity to work from home up to twice per week.
