As a software engineer at Mentimeter, you will be an integral part of one of our cross-functional product teams, implementing designs and user experiences that will affect millions of people worldwide. You will do this with other engineers, a Product Manager, a Product Designer, and an Engineering Manager. Even though there are some specific roles in the team, we do things and solve problems together. We want you to be someone who engages with the rest of the team in product and design decisions and doesn’t shy away from discussions. This role is for someone who wants to do more than just write code 8 hours daily.

We’re hiring for two Product teams within the Commercial area, both playing a key role in how users experience and interact with Mentimeter – but with different areas of focus:

Team Mango - Manage and Grow Organisations
This team is on a mission to create a seamless and high-quality workspace experience for our users. They own core parts of the workspace management journey and constantly explore ways to improve usability, performance, and long-term value. It’s a collaborative, cross-functional setup where engineers, a designer, and a product manager work closely to shape the product end-to-end. We’re looking for someone who cares deeply about code quality, enjoys working across the stack, and thrives in a team programming environment with frequent pairing.

Team Payments & Monetization Team
This small team focuses on enabling buying, upgrading, and renewing Menti subscriptions seamlessly for self-service users and enterprise customers. They own the full subscription lifecycle—checkout, billing, invoicing, renewals—and deliver reliable reporting for Finance through their integrations. The team moves fast, instruments their work, and runs experiments that drive immediate impact on key metrics that really move the needle. As a small, highly collaborative group, Product, Design, and Engineering work side-by-side with Sales, Finance, and Revenue Ops. Who you are

For this role, we believe at least 5 years of related work experience as a software engineer, and through your experience, you have gained a good understanding of product development. You most likely also have a master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.

You are a reliable, high-performing individual contributor with a solid understanding of your area of specialization. You always have a good idea of what you want to do and then just do it. You embrace change and short feedback loops.

For us, it is important that everyone cares about code quality, so an interest in testing and automation is needed. Excellent communication skills and working independently and in a team are other traits we are looking for in all our colleagues. As the team is mob programming previous experience of this is valuable and you enjoy working in this way! 

Last but not least, you must have a curious mindset, be open to learning & sharing knowledge, and be interested in working with our tech stack.

The tech stack at Mentimeter consists of a frontend written in React (Next.js and Typescript), and a backend written in Ruby (not Rails). Supported by some of the following technologies:

We require someone who knows React well but not necessarily Ruby for this role. If you know Ruby, that’s great, but knowing another backend language well and being willing to learn Ruby is equally fine. It’s more important to us that you have the right attitude than the exact right skill set.
